I don't know what, but I love to have them. Especially when I don't have the system hooked up but don't feel like putting it back in the box.

Currently I have...

Sega CDX
Sega Gamegear
Sega Dreamcast
PSone
Nintendo DS

Anyone else have a strange fondness for these things?

I like having the offical carry cases too, my favorite one is the offical Nomad case, no idead if its rare in the US, but since the Nomad wasnt even released here in UK its rare here.

Im particularly want official carry cases for all my portables, id love to get the cases for game.com, wonderswan and Pokemon mini.

I like `em. In fact one of the principles of my console collecting philosophy can be summed up by the acronym "PAYCIS" - Put All Your Consoles In Sacks.

I spend a lot of time obsessing over this, actually, and have managed to find some nice fitting ones even for some systems that had no official carrying case such as the Atari 5200.

On the official side all I've got are Dreamcast, Game Gear, and both the small and large ones for the Atari Lynx. I also have this 3rd party tote for the N64 which, oddly enough, is the exact same bag as the official Dreamcast one, the only difference being the logos. I want to get some for my modern consoles eventually, but I have to make sure they'll acommodate LCD displays as well as the base units.

A Sega Nomad with accessories and even a few carts fits quite comfortably inside a Game Gear case, too, if anybody's curious.

Is there an actual list of proper official cases anywhere?

Do they even exist for NGPC or Wonderswan?

I'm sure I've seen pics over at Neo-Geo.com forum of very nice looking AES cases?

I too love official cases, especially for portables. I tend to lean toward the slip cases.

Been losing my mind for a long time over the official TurboExpress case, even with it being that hideous orange. That one will probably be the hardest to score. Someone posted that they won one recently on eBay, and all I can say it that they are lucky I didn't see it. Would have bid strong on that one.

Need to get back on that. I have the official cases for the Lynx, PSOne combo, NGage & DS. Need to get them for the NGPC, Nomad, Game Gear (I want the small version), original GameBoy & the aforementioned TE.

The only cases I have that I love that aren't official are the leatherette sleeves for the GBA SP. I wish I could find an affordable leather slip for the DS Lite and original DS. There are new sleeves out for the lite that are nice, but the alternative (playthrough) sucks. Anyone else hate playthrough cases?

Would also love a VB hardcase.

Good topic!

:rocker: Methinks I'll hunt one of these down

And if anyone wants to see a very lush AES carry case, there's some pics here (http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/SNK-NBG.html). Sold out too!

hooray for official carrying cases, which you will need to put inside something ELSE so you don't scratch them up

Also, I wonder why I bought that nasty old original GB case a while back (don't even have an original GB to put in it)...

I used to have one of the Saturn ones. It was with my first Saturn. I still kick myself over selling it. It was a very nice (and official?) case.

I've got a Saturn one and a regular NES one. Both of them are nice, and come in extremely handy.

I like the original cases, can't stand most accessories 3rd parties make. I did stumble across a Dramcast carrying case that was VACRMH's several weeks back priced at $8 and was tempted but held off on it. The next time I went I was looking forward to see it again but it was gone. :(

What I have:
Hard case GB brick case
Game Gear case VACRMH has

I really don't think it's officially Nintendo but I bought:

Off eBay about a month or so ago. It's not who I got it from but it's that one. I didn't like the ones available at the stores around here and wanted something sleak and small. Also it was less than $10 after shipping so why not, less than 50% the price of other cases locally here.

Although I like to show off my consules sometimes it's better personally to stash them in a carrying case or some protective covering while not in use, but them seem to be rough to come by around these parts.

No one else has the huge Virtual Boy Carrying case from blockbuster? I have that and had the TurboGrafx-CD case when I had my TG-CD. Sorry, too lazy for pics for the virtual boy one unless someone really wants them.

I really like having them for my handheld systems. Although sometimes I like the third party ones more than the official ones. As long as I have something to keep my handhelds in, I'm happy.

As for consoles, I've never been into getting cases for them. I figure it'd take up more room :(

I bet that could fetch some nice coin on ebay.

I have carrying cases for the systems I actually carry around a lot, being my DS Lite (which is carried in a GBA case leftover from when I had my GBA SP) and my Gamecube.

my first Saturn hardcase (with a Saturn in it) i bought from Blockbusters and the system was only rented out 3 times. paid $50 total in 1997
the one with the white Philips CDi written on it has the Cdi 220 in it, but it originally is for the N64 i have the foam for it also, but since i have only 1 boxed N64 i put the Cdi in it

Wow, after seeing all these I want to start collecting these too!

And now that I think of it, systems will take up less space, because you could stack them!

Thanks guys :D

Whoa, that Super Mario Land case freakin' rocks. That NGPC case is ace too; I highly recommend it.

I got loads of official cases, but only for handhelds. Heck, sometimes I think I have better luck at finding cases at thrift stores than reasonably priced games I don't already have. What's nice is that even if you end up with more cases than the actual handhelds you own, you can just load others up with games.

In the case of my SP, I actually prefer a third party case when it comes to practical use. Nintendo only produces those soft squishy cases, and while that's great for home, I don't want to throw that in my backpack I'm taking to school and have it get beat up by books or fall out or something. Instead, I have this metal, cube-shaped case that works great for me. And it's got room to store a few games, so you can't beat that. :)
