I had the opportunity to hold a wafer of Playstation 3 processors yesterday. At least, that's what my professor said they were. I have no idea how he got ahold of this. I just figured I'd share this little tidbit. I hear from other sources that the yield for these processors is very low, which is one of the big reasons why there will be so few PS3s at launch. So I have no idea how my professor got a wafer full of maybe 80 of them. Maybe it was a bad wafer somehow.

or maybe he's just full of s**t?
Did you check your wallet to make sure all the money was in it after it left?

It's a MEMS class. I'll have to ask him some more about this, I think.

Did Kuturagi bless it and then make you take a bite of it?

Considering the NDA's still associated with the cell and the fact that there have to be about $10,000 worth of processers there, i'm going to guess that those aren't really cell's.
Even if it was a bad batch, IBM wouldn't let it out of their sight...

Well, does the PS3 just have one processor? I suppose it could be a sound or video processor or something. I dont know all the details about the PS3.
