Any games which you think werent properly finished or didnt even deserve the box theyre in!?

Im gona nominate Sword Of Sodan for Sega Megadrive/Genesis...

Quite possibly the worst MD game i have ever played/owned!
The character takes up half the screen.
The controls are horrible, the game is slow.

It bores me incredibly and i couldnt believe it was put into a cart!

Any other games?

There are a lot of bad games out there, but there aren't very many that I would say should not have been released.

One game I would say that about is 3DO Doom. The game just altogether did not work, so they shrunk it down to a screen size where it would barely work.

Rise of the Robots (3DO/Genesis/SNES/GameBoy/GameGear/PC)

I have no idea how this game even got a sequel on Saturn and PSX..."Rise 2 Ressurection"

Sword of Sodan may have been slow but LOOK, you can poke other guys in the nuts with your long gray shaft thing!

Double Dragon-2600 I never played it myself. I have to say though, doing this game with 1 button is not a good idea plus the age of the 2600 at time (12 years old) is not a great idea. The 2600 was not made for a game that advanced. The oldest game console this should've attempted was the 5200, and the colecovision with a maybe. I got an idea what happened here: Games on the 2600 like Rador lock and Solaris pushed the limits and activision decided to port Double Dragon do the same thing. The difference is Double Dragon is an arcade port, needs 2 buttons at least, The graphics weren't great and weren't close to the arcade game or tried to be.

Make my video series-sega cd. There are 3 of these make my video games without mentioning another game that shouldn't be made Power factory featuring C&C music Factory.

Those are the only games I can think of. There are bunch of bad games out there, but I think the only games that should be released is games a system is not capable of like Doom for the 3do Kid Ice mentioned.

Actually that was on the PC, too.

There are indeed a lot of games out there that could easily have benefited from just another month or two of development.

Bubsy 3D.

That was the first game I ever rented for PS1 and it was so utterly unplayable that I took it back and demanded a different game.

I have to agree with Shaq-Fu -- what an awful idea for a game. To that list, I'd add the following two games: Bebe's Kids (SNES) and Plumbers Don't Wear Ties (3DO). Both very awful games, though Plumbers is so poorly done and so low budget that it at least ends up being amusing for a few minutes.

Both of those horrid zelda games for the CD-i (excluding Adventure, that was decent enough).

The cut scenes and dialog are fun to laught at, if you can endure actually playing the game.

I kind of have a feeling to pull out the CD-i put in zelda wand of gamelon and see how much i can stand until i break. Its a good excerise in building mental toughness.

Action 52 is terrible also. I don't know why people are willing to pay what they do for it.

I think we should differentiate between plain old bad games and games that should have never been released because of rushed development and/or beyond the limitations of the system. Is this question directed at the former or the latter?

You took the words right out of my mouth. People who haven't played it realize it has bad graphics and whatever, but coming from someone who loves one on one fighters, Fight for Life's controls and gameplay aren't just bad or poorly implemented, they're fundamentally WRONG. The way crouching/getting up/doing ANYTHING works in that game is atrocious.

I remember all the ads hyping it up to be better than Virtua Fighter 2.

Not just better than Virtua Fighter, better than Virtua Fighter 2!

My thoughts on various bad games can be found in this thread... 100 Worst Games. (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=91873) I can not stress the awfulness of Carmageddon 64 enough.

THis game was actually a pretty hot one for the Amiga and Apple IIGS. It's popularity on these computers is most likely what spawned the cheezy MD release. Give it another chance on the Amiga...it is one of my old time favorites!

I like Shaq-Fu. It's one my favorite Genny fighters.

If there was any game that didn't deserve the box it came in, it's The Simpsons: Virtual Bart. The game is utter garbage.

I've got no nominees for bad games... that topic has been done to death.

Unfinished? How about Impossible Mission for the NTSC Atari 7800? It had a bug that prevented gamers from actually finishing the game, making it truly an Impossible Mission.

from Atariage...

The cart was released with a bug where some of the pieces you need were hidden under computer terminals, but the terminals cannot be searched. This bug was fixed, but Atari probably never released the updated version. The PAL version is not impossible, as the programmer of the PAL version fixed the bug.

Here's my list:

- HydLite (NES)
Ugly graphics, bad controlls, can die without getting hit by an enemy... Need I say more?

- Bomberman Hero (Nintendo 64)
Just flat out boring... -_-

- Barney's Hide and Seek Game (Sega Genesis)
Why did they ever release that?

Rascal for the playstation. Hated every bit of that game. Couldn't get past the second level because of all the crappy camera angles and terrible graphics. One of the few games I've sold back.

Didn't this one remove the multiplayer mode? If so, that's just taboo for any Bomberman game...

How about Dirty Harry for NES. You cant even cheat and beat this game. Doesnt someone play these games through before there released to insure no problems exsist.

Sword of Sodan gets the shaft because it was basically a tech demo marketed as a game...originally for the Amiga as I remember. A lot of Amiga games have that problem...

As far as unfinished goes, Freedom Wings on the DS plays like a beta version at best. It needs some work to be what I consider complete. It's a shame really, it's a great game that I'm playing through for the 2nd time.

Later,

Nobody said Hellboy (PS) yet? Good, then I'm led to believe no one's bothered trying it! Choppy, stupid, awful. Yechh.

Congo Bongo (Atari computer cart): I honestly thought I was playing a beta/test version or something that somehow mistakenly made it out the door.

Crusaders of M&M (PS): could be finished w/ perserverance but I found it disgustingly unfair & just plain blah. In fact, I sold it BACK to GameStop a few days after buying it BRAND NEW.

As for unfinished, I think GTA: San Andreas fits the bill. Even with all the stuff on that game, there's so much more that seems like it was just left undone simply to meet a release date.

I've got to side with Shadow: War of Succession for the 3DO on this one. The game asks you to finish your opponent, a la Mortal Kombat, but the programmers didn't even bother to put finishing moves in. They knew it was so bad, they didn't even send out review copies to the press - immediate red flag. Every single thing about this game is bad, broken and unfinished - it's a completely unplayable game with almost no framerate and no degree of control. Shadow is definitely on the top tier of worst games ever made if not THE worst game ever made. It had no business ever being released but it still sold.

oooh thought of another one. I actually fell for this, too...

Star Wars Galaxies

The initial retail release of that game was so far from unfinished it wasn't even funny.

Hooter's Racing on PSX is pretty bad. Seems like a project someone did on a rainy sunday afternoon. I would rather eat Hooter's food than play the game. Of course Superman 64 is one of the most talked about.

War Gods (Hey it's the not quite so 3D, yet no where near Mortal Kombat clone, yet spewed out from Midway!)

Yoshi's Touch and Go DS (It's a demo, Im sure of it)

How about Pokemon Dash for the DS? You know, the pikachu stroking simulator? That literally WAS a tech demo that they dedided to sell...
