OK, I sold a sealed SNES game. The total was $48. He paypal'ed me but included this note:

Hello, here is the money for the referred item shipped via Global Priority (boxed please). I will send you another e-mail with further important details on shipping, please wait until you can read it. Thanks a lot!

Address: name here
street here
08329 Teia, Barcelona
Spain

Here's the part that scares me....

Address Status: Unconfirmed

Important Note: [name here] has provided an Unconfirmed Address. If you are planning on shipping items to [name here], please check the Transaction Details page of this payment to find out whether you will be covered by the PayPal Seller Protection Policy.

----

So, it's unconfirmed and he told me he'd give me instructions later on on how to send it. HUH?

Then this arrives

---
Hello,

I just sent you the money and, as stated in my payment message, here you have a confirmation of my shipping address:

Name: xxxxx (same name as in paypal)
Surname: xxxxx (ditto)
Street: xxxxx (same street as above, to his credit)
City: Teia
Postal Code: 08329
Province: Barcelona
State: Catalunya
Country: Spain

Please ship the game well protected inside a box, as a collector I am picky and therefore I will appreciate very much any efforts you can make to protect the game. Please describe the game as an old second-hand one on the shipping form. If you can also mark the gift or sample box on the shipping form it will help too.

Please let me know when you have shipped the game I will confirm you its reception and then post your feedback ASAP.

Thanks a lot again for all.

Sincerely,
Name here

So... why is his address on Paypal unconfirmed, but the address he sent me to tell me and send it to -- well, matching the unconfirmed address in Paypal? Am I missing something here? Does this seem fishy to anyone else? Or is he legit and I'm just worrying over nothing?

Thanks.

I don't see anything fishy here. It looks like he didn't include his state of Catalunya in his Paypal address and wanted to make sure you included it on the package.

This has happened to me before, but the international buyer has always included the full address in the payment details, not in a seperate email.

As long as you've got tracking on global priority mail you'll most likely be fine. Lots of overseas people can't confirm their address with Paypal. If there's no tracking on global priority mail, then you're boned.

Yea nothing fishy there. A lot of people don't realize that Paypal gives you their address. I have had a LOT of people sed me their address after they pay with paypal.

And even if you send it with tracking you won't be covered with Paypal. They won't protect the seller if you send to an unconfirmed address.

But that being said I do send to unconfirmed overseas a lot and only have had 2 problems both of which were to Mexico, packages not arriving.

WRONG. I recently sent 2 pairs of shoes out to Nebraska to somebody. I paid with PayPal shipping and the tracking # said the item arrived perfectly. 2 weeks later the guy said he never recieved the item and PayPal decided in his favor because his address was unconfirmed. Complete BS.

So are you going to get scammed? I doubt it. Like scooby105 said most overseas people can't confirm their address with PayPal. If his feedback on eBay is good I doubt you'll get scammed, but the possibility is always there.

Heh, same guy eh? Yeah, Mr "collector"... anyway, he paid like within 5 hours after my auction ended. Guess he really wanted it :P

My policy is to never ship an item to an unconfirmaed address that you can't afford to loose. PayPal will do what the like whether you have a tracking number or not if the shipping address isn't confirmed.
