To be totally honest, there aren't as many huge Xbox 360 games this Xmas as I thought there would be. Sure, there are some big ones, but it appears a bunch of games have been pushed into 2007. The rumors are pretty rampant that Forza 2 will be delayed till sometime in 2007 which is a big blow to Microsoft's Force Feedback Wheel. Will a retooled PGR 3 with added FF be worth it, to get that wheel? I'm hoping there are a few other suprises that will make it out in late 2006, that don't appear on this EB list.

Take out NBA from that list entirely and that would be my list as well. Also, November 7th is going to be a busy day @_@ @_@ @_@

Yeah, November 7th does look to be seriously overloaded. I wonder if all those games really are coming out on that one day. As for NBA 2K7, this could be one of the best sports sims of all time, and possibly one of the best basketball games of all time. Obviously, if you can't stand sports games, then I would understand the lack of interest, but it's going to be a very good game in all likelihood. Anybody with even remote interest in NBA Basketball that has a 360, should give this game a rent.

While I understand where you are coming from on this one, Anthony1, I would say that - for me, at least - there is enough there to see me through to 2007. Heck, I can't even keep up at the moment - and we've only just come through the summer lull!

Based on that list, I can see myself buying a dozen (or so) of those games before the year is up (money permitting, of course), including Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (which should arrive in Europe this fall). But I just can't see where I am going to find the time to play them all!

I too am suprised that the Xbox 360 lineup is not more "beefy". Many games on the 360 are also on other systems as well. Lego Stars Wars II and Phantasy Star Universe are good examples. I honestly cannot recommnend the Xbox 360 due to their software lineup. Hell, even their Xbox live arcade releases have been "meh". The whole backwards compatability issue adds insult to injury. I am dissapointed in Microsoft not having a more sold lineup against Sony and Nintendo. I think Gears of War will be good, but not the killer App Microsoft is pushing it as. I have said it before, games sell systems, not hardware. While I won my Xbox 360 in a contest, it has been hard for me to promote the system to others. As of today, Microsoft has failed to impress me with their new sysetm. In an extremely competitiive console market, I fear that the 360 could get stung this holiday, but only time will tell. Microsoft needs to stop promoting the dam 360 as a multimedia device, unless they are serious about people using it as one(cough cough web browser would be nice)

I'm actually completely content with a smaller line up. The $60 price really starts to add up. I'd rather only have 1 must have title a month anyway. My backlog is pretty big as it is, so the less game I have to play the better.

Gears of War (obviously). I can see myself putting some serious hours into the online portion of this game.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Rainbow Six: Vegas, Call of Duty 3, and F.E.A.R round out the "must haves" for me this year.

Huh... well, I was going to say Mass Effect, Bioshock, and Lost Planet, but it doesn't look like those three are on the list, so I guess I'll have to wait until 2007.

I am looking forward to Tony Hawk Project 8, but most of the rest of the games on that list don't tickle my fancy all that much. Although some of them might turn out to be better than I expect.

Halo 3 will be the reason I finally buy a 360.

The same way Zelda will be reason I buy Wii.

The same way nothing will make me want to buy PS3.

Spending money on brand new full priced games is so 2004 :D Rent, Rent, and Rent some more. Buying games for any price higher than $29.99 makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I know that's kinda harsh, but it's true. It's all about your perception. Some people are compelled to "own" things, and they just have a really hard time renting things or leasing things, but in the video game world, there is no worst monetary investment than buying a brand new $59.99 game plus tax.

The kind of monthly rental plans that are available nowadays, allow you to rent things "long term". As well as renting things for short periods. I look at it like this......Instead of paying $60 per month on DirectTV, or $65 per month on 1 $59.99 game per month, I spend $60 a month on rental fees (I actually spend much less than that to be honest, lol, but in November and December I'll be spending $60 per month on rental fees). $60 per month might sound absolutely ridiculous to be paying in rental fees, but I'm playing everything under the sun. Any game I want to play I do play...and if I want to keep that game for an extended period, that's no problem either. I keep half my rentals as long term rentals, and the other have I constantly swap in and out. Works absolutely fantastic. You know that list I had above? I won't spend a penny on buying any of those games, but I'll play every one of them, and I'll play half of them (the best half) extensively. I'll be trying all the best games for the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360, and they way that I'm going to do it, is through the beauty of low cost monthly rental plans that allow you to have many games out simultaneously. Mix that in with a few local Blockbuster Gamer's Passes, and you can truly have it all. The big downside on the whole deal is that you just have to change your thoughs on the whole concept of ownership and leasing. Unless you are going to keep your games forever (and even if you are) , buying games for full pop just make no freaking sense. Nothing depreciates faster than a used video game. And even if you want to keep it for life, it's better to rent it, and then buy it in a bargain bin two years later for one of the $4.99 Circuit City sales. It actually works out better for collectors too, because then you don't even need to open it. You can just keep a sealed copy.
