Several NES game cartridges I own have names written on the cartridge. Luckily only on the plasitic part and not on the lable.

The majority seem to be a thin type magic marker. One has what looks like to be one of those pen type white out markers.

I was wondering what I could use to remove these names from the cartridge without doing much damage if any to them.

Oh, I have an NES system with the same problem.

Yes, I did a search. I must have done a bad on because I got no hits.

Sorry, I am sure this question has been already asked a thounand times.

Make that one thousand and one times.

I wet a q-tip with rubbing alcohol, soak it into the marker for a few minutes, and then follow up with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

Works 99% of the time.

You can also substitute alcohol with WD-40.

409 works quite well also. I got a bunch of nice NES games over the weekend with names on the back in marker and it took them right off without discoloring my cartridge casings. I grabbed a square of paper towel, squirted some 409 on it and started rubbing. Took a bit to get the deep markings out, but no more than a minute. I should try Simply Dave's methods sometime, it might be more efficient if just using a q-tip.

Goo-gone and be done. Works on the labels too! (just don't rub super hard)
