I recently came across a NEO GEO MVS cabinet for a good price and I want to look for some good non-fighting/non-metal slug games that I can plug into it. Anyone own one of these and can make some recomendations on a good game for my system?
Bust-A-Move.
It's a puzzle like game that has a decent single player mode. The game really shines on two-player mode, though. Every time I have friends over we end up playing a best of 10 that usually turns into best of 25.

What about that frisbee one? That game was loads of fun! :D It was like an action packed Pong ripoff, set on a beach.
I haven't played it in years but I loved it.

I like Viewponit and Nam...though I do not have either yet...

I found out the name - it's Windjammers! [link (http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2006/03/review-windjammers-neo-geo-ngcd.html)]
I pumped so many quarters into that game. I'd love to get a neogeo just for it :D
P.S. By the way - when are we going to regain the ability to edit posts? I feel like a postwhore here :(

No fighting or Metal Slugs, eh? Certainly makes things a little more difficult.
If you like sports games there's Baseball Stars 2, Ultimate 11 [Super Sidekicks 4], Neo Turf Masters and, as others have mentioned, Windjammers.
If you fancy some shmuppery there's Blazing Star, Pulstar, Last Resort, Prehistoric Isle 2 and either of the Aero Fighters [Sonic Wings] games.
I don't do puzzle games but I reckon either of the Magical Drops should do you fine.
But you really should get Matrimelee and Rage of the Dragons. And all the Slugs ;)

Goddammit, why can't I ever find an MVS for a good price?! Actually, one time I did find one but it was a fuckered up conversion cab that needed to die.
Anyway, if I had an MVS, say, a 4 slot, I'd put Ninja Combat, Samurai Shodown, Blazing Star and maybe SvC Chaos in it. Or perhaps a King of Fighters game...

Windjammers, Dodge Ball, Blazing Star, Ninja Combat, Bust-a-Move, 3 Count Bout, Baseball Stars, Crossed Swords, Sengoku 3 (personal fav) and the super-cheesy Burning Fight were among my favorites that fall among your criteria. When you cut out fighters, you cut about three-quarters of the U.S. released carts. lol
But like someone else mentioned, you can't go wrong with Rage of the Dragons - such a fantastic tag fighter.

I assume that the reaosn he's told us to exclude fighters and Metal Slug games form our recommendations is because he knows they're good and want s advice on other genres.
I certainly back up the previous recommendations for Windjammers, Sengoku 3, Prehistoric Isle 2 (most of the shooters are on the Neo Geo are great, but this is my favorite) and Magical Drop.
Blue's Journey is a pretty cool platformer, not at all in the league of great platformers like Super Mario or Ristar, but my favorite on the system and every system needs a platformer. Spin Master is another good platformer, maybe in some ways even technically better than Blue's Journey, though I think Blue's Journey is more enjoyable for some reason. Twinkle Star Sprites is a brilliant sort of versus shooter that mixes in elements form puzzle games, it's definitely one of my favorite games on the system. Then there's Thrash Rally, which is a pretty nice top-down racer, though not graphically impressive at all (Power Drive Rally on the Jaguar looks way better...and is actually probably more fun, too). I haven't played Neo Drift Out which is another top-down racer, but with much better graphics, it may be a better game than Thrash Raly overall, I don't know.

yeah, right now I've got mainly older games for it...its the four slot and it has World Heroes 2, Baseball Stars professional, Fatal Fury 2, and Samurai Showdown. Unfortunately my keys won't unlock the spot where you slide the game cards above the screen. I need to find a way to get in there. I also got Sengoku 1 but its gonna be here this weekend. Is that any good?
Here's Some I've enjoyed in my Neo's in the past:
Magical Drop 2 ( I'm sure 3 is good too )
Neo Turf Master Golf
Ninja Commando, even if the graphics are kinda lame
Puzzle Bobble
Puzzle DePon
either Shock Troopers
Strikers 1945 Plus
Windjammers ( Rocks! )
Mike : )
Sengoku is alright, kinda mediocer.

Everyone is offering advise, but it's easy to try out the roms on emulation and see what games you like. Don't rule out fighting games completely, Neo-Geo has a lot of unique fighters not available on other systems or never got ported

SPIN MASTER
Also the rest of the suggestions there are good, though I'd go for the cheap stuff first (if you like it, anyway). Really, get onto MAME, and see what you like.
I just traded for an 8man cart and I love it! Other games I just got are FFS, SuperSpy, Galaxy Fight, and Puzzled.
Some of my very favs are Aero Fighters 2, and Super Sidekicks 2. Those get a LOT of play. It was mentioned before but Windjammers is a must as well.

I'll go with the crowd here, and suggest Sengoku 3. It may only be a side scrolling beat em up, but its one of the deepest ones Ive ever played, with so many combos and moves, and unlockable characters it has lots of replay value and and is a blast to play alone or with a friend. Quality title.
Personally I prefer Sengoku 2 over 3. IMO it has more character to it, more atmosphere. 3 is cool though.
