Back when I was young, I would always sell my games in order to get money to buy new games.
Probably the biggest regret I have was selling my NES and SNES and all my games to fund my N64 Purchase.
I had all kinds of great games for both systems such as Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Dragon Warrior 4, etc.
I sold everything for so cheap too not really knowing what the values were. Dragon Warrior 4 went for 75 cents!
Since that time, I have never sold a game (though admittedly I have misplaced one or two!).

Loaning out my Sega Megadrive with about 10 complete games to a friend whom loaned it out to another friend. Now I can't get it back  Really regret doing that, now I don't loan out a thing.
Not purchasing Radiant Silvergun when I had the chance.
Not purchasing Panzer Dragoon Saga when it was on clearance price at a Toys R Us years back.
Purchasing an ZX Spectrum instead of buying a C64 due to my uncle's biased influence at the time (that sucked for a few years when many of my friends was playing many great games in nice sound on the C64).

selling 100 NES games for $3 each, all had manuals and i got to keep super mario bros and a few others he wouldnt take to a pawn shop to fund my TG16 purchase and the TV Hockey game
then i got to 50 TG16 games (all complete) and i sold the system and games for $60 to a guy i knew for about a year (im not really sure why i sold it) but i ran into him about 5 years later and i asked him about the TG16 and he said he still had it but the games were down to 5 total as his kid would take the games and trade them in for other videogame crap at funcoland, so i paid him $10 to get it back, but atleast he kept Devils Crush, Alien Crush, and Bonks Adv
but the thing i dont regret is selling my atari 5200 systems (i hate that system with a passion) i paid $60 total for both and sold them for $135 with 38 games
plus i had just bought 5 multi carts for my atari 800xl so the 5200 was usless and i wouldnt have to F%$& with the controllers anymore

Bringing my Nomad to work.
You figure out the sad sad result, and if you figure it out, know that I still haven't replaced the Nomad I got for free.

Essentially giving away my Genesis, 32X, and Sega CD for a prayer and a song because I had a Saturn and a PSX. I had sooooo much awesome stuff. The SegaCD games that I had, in particular, were great. I miss Snatcher badly, yet I lack the time or money right now to buy all that stuff again.

My biggest regret is selling a COMPLETE copy of Clayfighter 63 1/2 (N64) and NASCAR (PS1) to Gamestop, where they gave me about two or three bucks for them. I was trying to save cash for a new controler or somthing along those lines.

Incredible how many great deals have been passed up and the amount of bad sells have happened. I can't say I've ever had anything that's worth a ton of money and ended up selling or decided not to buy something when I could. I guess things just aren't all that exciting where I live. LOL

Actually, due to recent times I've thought about selling my FF7 while it's up so high and wait until I come across another, but I don't know how long that'd be and if I end up having an itch to play it while it's absent from my collection. So, for now I'm hanging on it. :)

Few years back sold a NES and about 15 complete games for a measly $50. And there have been countless times I have passed up on rare games for cheap because I wanted it complete in box :-/

Getting rid of all the boxes for my NES games was my biggest regret.

A bunch of sega Master system mistakes that was caused by my narrow mindedness at the time for getting a sms just for Phantasy Star. The first one was not buying a Master System with 8 to 10 games Included I think for $120.00 because it didn't include Phantasy Star. :grrr: My second was not buying European sms boxed games including bobble Bubble at a rental store In Milwaukee because I didn't have the system or the converter didn't work when I know I will be buying a sms console. If I seen Phantasy Star at the time, I would have bought it! This happened in 1998 or 1999. Another one is not buying 3d sms glass at a flea market in 2000 because of my mistake of not buying games prior due to the fact the sms converter didn't work on my genesis one model. The sms games I missed out in Appleton on vacation in 1998, 1999, and 2000. The games were cheaper then What I bought from record head. In Appleton the place had United States games for the sms cheaper and Record Head euro sms games and games Im the United States. It would've helped me out some, due to the fact I went to appleton ounce or twice a year in those years. Record head was great for rare games for the sms. Another One I had was passing up Buster Douglas Boxing for the sms.
I regretted not buying a boxed Warong at Record Head.
The reason why I mentioned Record head here was it was a great place to find rare games for game systems back in the late 90's up to 2001 for the most part although a good amount of their stuff was way over priced.
I made 3 2600 screw ups. Not getting Tapper. Not buying Up'n Down, and Chase the ChuckWagon before dp member Goodwill Hunter bought Chase the chuckwagon. DP member Goodwill Hunter did report Chase the Chuckwagon as find here. Up'n Down and Chase the Chuckwagon was at the same place at the same time cheap.

Not picking up a cart only Dig Dug 2 NES long ago, it was 15 bucks, and a friend was buying me a classic game for my birthday. In the end I picked up Pro Wrestling instead, not a bad game, but it's no Dig Dug 2.

actually If you really think about it except for a few of the rarest games just about all the vintage games are dirt cheap compared to buying them new back in the day..how many people paid 30 or 40 dollars for pacman and donkey kong when atari 2600 first came out or paid 40 o 50 dollars for nes and genesis titles...

Well compared to some, my biggest regret will seem quite trivial. When I was younger and got my original SNES I did not keep any of the boxes, I had some fairly rare stuff, and boy would I love to have Super Mario RPG still with a box, but alas they are history. Since then I have never thrown away a box. And unlike some of you I did bite at the opportunity to get classics like chrono trigger and Earthbound without boxes. And honestly I'm glad I didn't, boy do I love those games.
Oh and about Radiant Silvergun, I now it's crazy rare, and I actually have seen it in person in a local game shop, complete with everything, but he wanted 200 for it. How ever a good deal that may or may not be I wasn't about to pay 200 for it. However I would like to know, since the database here doesn't actually have a price listed for it, how much it's actually worth and if I ever see it again know how much I should be willing to spend on it? Thanks!

My biggest regrets are:
- Buying Super Mario Sunshine ($20 was way too much for a crappy game!)
- Passing up on a boxed, complete copy of Lemmings (NES) for Crystalis (sp?)
- Passing up a Sega Saturn for $5

this reminds me of a time when a local kay-bee toys had a sale and had about 6 or 7 brand new jaguars on sale for $20 and i didn't buy a single one (sigh) :(

I have sold stuff for all my systems over the years and there has only been 1 item that I have regretted and that was Knight Rider for the NES. I know I could buy it now and for not too much either but I haven't done it yet.

Since I never throw away anything, I have little to regret. One incident comes to mind however: The time I went out with the trash and found a thrown away NES prototype, taking it to the computer club and putting it in their mailbox, only to return to find it stolen.

Its less rare and more the fact that its such a sought after title. A complete mint copy is worth around ~200. I picked mine up for 115.00. I didnt think i was going to win and just decided to low ball it. I was amazed i won and looked closer at the auction. It was titled Radiant Slivergun :-P
I dont really have any regrets i can think of. I didnt start really collecting vintage games until around 2002, and by that point most of the flea markets / used shops were pretty much picked over in my area.
Maybe not hoarding more Virtua Boy systems for $25 from ebworld and toysrus when they cleared them out. But at the time I wasnt into collecting at all. I remember buying a copy of waterworld for $10. My friend and I both got a copy and took them home play. What a horrid game, we cut the plasic very clean in case of such a situation. Using clear tape we tried to reseal the games and return them to toysrus. I think the employee could see what we were trying to pull but gave us the money back anyway. Now i wish he refused to give the refund as waterworld sells for 30+, oh well serves me right i guess.

I would have to say that my biggest regret would be trading my model 1 Genesis and 8 or 9 games (including one of my faves - Test Drive 2: The Duel which cost $50 at the time I got it!) to a friend for a SNES and 2 (TWO!!!!) games. I sat there miserable with my system while he went out and got a Sega CD (and Night Trap, Bram Stoker's Dracula and a couple other games) and was having the time of his life!

A couple of things:
Biggest would probably be throwing away all the old NES boxes / manuals
The second was probably when I sold my saturn sega rally to a mate... it was back in high school and I was disappointed when the saturn started getting pulled from the shelves down here...
I had a plan to sell up and buy a playstation instead... so I let everyone know I was selling and my mate was the first to buy something (sega rally)... The day after I sold it I realised I could never get rid of the saturn (loved it too much) and so started to miss the game (probably my favourite at the time).
When I finally got a replacement from ebay several years later.. that was a very good day.

Throwing away boxes... never thought I would care about packaging. Oh well, most of the boxes I did try to hold onto as a kid, but my parents just tossed them when I wasn't around. LOL
Also trading all my little table top and game-n-watch games for baseball cards or M.U.S.C.L.E men. I used to have a fairly good sized collection of them. But at least I still have all my baseball cards. Would be interesting to go and pick up a Beckett price guide and see if any of them rookie cards are worth anything. :)

Not buying a copy of Radiant Silvergun when it first came out... I mean not buying a whole case of Radiant Silvergun when it first came out... I still can't afford that damn game!
