I feel nauseous after playing it and I have a neck cramp 8-)

It didn't come with a game so I had to get one with it, and I chose Teleroboxer. It's not bad, but I feel sorry for anyone who bought one of these babies new for $180 back in 1995.

Still it's a nice novelty to have :) Anyone else have one, and what good games are there? I don't think there are many good ones seeing how only like 22 were released.

The Wario game is a good game. Yup enjoy those dizzy spells and headaches. Nice gimmick back in the day, luckily I found one that included the stand and foam piece.

mine came with a big plastic box with "VIRTUAL BOY" adorned on the front and the inside is all custom fit foam that the parts get placed in. It's pretty neat 8-) no box or manual though.

I'd be interested in trading for the case!

The only two games i've played much are Mario Tennis and Jack Bros. They were both pretty neat games. I have 12 of the 14 US games. If anyone has Golf or Panic Bomer I would be happy to trade for them. I'm pretty sure I have doubles.

Yep, Nintendo's only Flof System. I thought the Virtual Boy Rocked but many people couldn't handle the screen. I never had any problems with it. Warioland and some 3d shooter game were really excellent. I wish someone would make some homebrew games for it. I remember talk of someone attempting a Star Wars Arcade for it. Now that would really RULE ! Mike : )

Yeah the tennis game is pretty sweet ,but I am a huge fan of Wario that was the best. It does give huge headaches and some crazy neck cramps put the pain is worth the fun everytime.

My favorite game was Tennis.

Red Alarm and that pinball game both suck though :(

I'm extremely sensitive to motion sickness while playing games (I can rarely play first-person games, even Metroid Prime) and I've never felt any physical illness as a result of playing VB.

What are you talking about? Galactic Pinball was one of the few finished game concepts. Red Alarm is like a full 3-D version of StarFox but all wireframe, if your eyes and head can figure out depth and size of wireframe objects then it's a total blast and my favorite game on the platform. Virtual Boy Wario Land is excellent as well, review over at my site (click www button) written by FullCircle of these forums. The Japanese V-Tetris is also a game I love, it's just straight Tetris with some 3-D backgrounds but it's SO RELAXING to play on the VB - no distractions, no outside crap, just Tetris in the dark.

TeleroBoxer is also great, nice game to start off with! :)

http://www.virtual-boy.org/ is going to be your best information resource.

The tennis game was great, but none of the games serve as my favorite part of the system.

I love the startup virtual boy music. I cant find an mp3 of it anywhere, and if anyone had a recording of any kind it would be great.

Blasphemy! Virtual Pinball is one of the best video pinball games ever made. Who cares if the ball is a puck?

I've got a complete US VB collection and 1 game away from having a complete Japanese one. The best US games are Mario Clash, Jack Bros, Wario Land, Tennis, and Nesters Funky Bowling (and Pinball :P ). The rest are kind of 'meh'.

There are some real gems in the Japanese releases but they can cost ya an arm and a leg. Insmouth and Space Invaders are two of my favorites. There were only like 7 or 8 games released in Japan that never made it to the US, so you aren't really missing much.

(BTW, got sealed copies of Virtual League Baseball for sale for $6 each shipped in the US if anyone is interested)

Whenever I ask people about The Blair Witch Project I only get one of two responses:

1) One of the best horror films ever.
2) All that camera motion made me sick and I couldn't finish watching it.

This pretty much parallels the range of feedback I get on the VB as well.

As for me, I absolutely love my VB collection: I have three units with 10 US games and one import. Wario Land is the one must-own for the system. Red Alarm is hella fun and makes ambitious use of the system's 3D capabilities. The Golf game works really well in this environment. Vertical Force is a novel contribution to shmups. Galactic Pinball is fun, too.

From a collector standpoint, I look at the VB as the Vectrex of the 1990's; a nifty idea that never really caught on in the mainstream market. I wouldn't give up on it. I dunno...Try adjustng the angle of your stand or something. What I like to do to play is lay down on the couch with the stand on my chest. That eliminates the neck pain, and I was never given the gene sequence that makes people motion sick so it's all good to me.

I have all 14 of the US released games, and am only missing 2 boxes to have them all CIB.
Personally, I think a lot of the games are okay, but nothing is too exceptional.
My favorites are Mario Tennis, Mario Clash, Wario Land, Red Alarm and Galactic Pinball.
My favorite would have to be Wario Land. I guess it's probably just because I like 2D Mario games, though.

BTW, if anybody has spare boxes of Galactic Pinball and/or Neptune's Funky Bowling, pm me ;) .

I think that Galactic Pinball and Vertical Force are the best games for the system, but really they're all great games. The system may have been a flop, but the games weren't. I wish that Gunpei would've been able to sell Nintendo on the system as he originally envisioned it... with 3 color LED's for a full range of 3D color... had he been able to do that, none of the portables we play now would be what they are today... the PSP might even be holographic... the VB was a system that was simply too far ahead of its time... I own all but two of the US releases (Baseball & Golf) and I hope to get Space Invaders someday, if I can ever afford it.

Bahh I dunno, I never got into either the pinball game or red alarm. Sorry guys :D I did really like the mario bros 3d game though.

Here's an interesting topic - which game(s) had the best 3d effects?

Red Alarm. Never mind that everything is rendered in monochrome wireframes. You'e got depth, scaling of objects, changes in perspective and 360 degrees of movement. Play from the cockpit perspective to fully appreciate the effect. If you're one of those people that gets nauseous playing VB, then Red Alarm will probably put you in the hospital. :puke:

Wario Land is really great in this sense too because Nintendo could have got away with making a strictly 2D platformer here but instead incorporated a 3D element into the gameplay, giving the game a lot more depth.

Congrats. It's a decent system that you need to have the props for and a good seating position. I've found it easy to also lay on your back with it covering your eyes. I'll be setting it up on a table in my room soon so I can finally finish Wario Land.

Yeah, I just peiced together a complete system myself. I don't play it much, it gives me neck cramps. My nephew really digs it though. Bye the way I have an extra copy of Mario Tennis if your interested.

I got a VB about a year ago at a Flea Market, at the time, I thought they were really valuable, and I was going to try to use it as trade bait or sell it on Ebay or something, but then I discovered that they aren't nearly as valuable as I thought they were. The only game that came with my VB was Mario's Tennis. I think it's a pretty fun game.

I keep hearing about Wario Land being the one absolute must own VB game, and I was wondering how much should I have to pay for a loose copy of Wario Land?

I just got a Virtual Boy myself a couple weeks ago for my birthday. It was the first time I had so much as seen one in person since back when they were new. I never owned one before, but I had played Mario's Tennis and Red Alarm on store displays. First person games usually make me feel yucky, but I've never had a problem with the Virtual Boy. You should just follow Nintendo's advice and take a little break every 15 or 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, my boyfriend got the Virtual Boy from a scumbag eBay seller who claimed that they tested it and confirmed it was functional, but he sent us a broken system with only one screen working (the left was dead, which I then learned is a common problem for Virtual Boys). We're still waiting on a refund, but either way, we've lost about $20 on mailing it back. Once we get the refund, I'll have to start looking for another on eBay.

I did get to briefly try Mario Clash while we had it (although obviously it didn't look right with only one screen). That's a pretty fun game too. :)
