Looking for a pre-modded Xbox with a good chip inside (no soft mods) and a upgraded HD (at least 100-120gb). Would like to get one with a Samsung drive too.
Most importantly though, I'd need to be able to get on Live with it since I play online all the time. I hear that you can't get on Live with a Xbox modded with a new HD if it has already been on Live before the instal.
Anyway, PM me if you've got one for sale/trade.

That's true. What you are precisely looking for is an xbox that has never been signed onto xbox live. Xbox live will ban you if you sign on with a different hard drive even if you are running the modchip in disable mode.

Ahh, thanks for that info. Wasn't sure if I'd still be able to get on Live if the chip was disabled.

might be cheaper to get the lastest gen chip and install it yourself.
it's trivial to open xbox and latest chip doesn't even need to be soldered on...

The solderless chips arent so great. They sound good on paper but you'll have issues down the road. But even soldering an xbox chip is pretty trivial compared to ps2. Get yourself a DuoX2. It's super easy to install and can disable for live.

I have a moddified Xbox myself. It has the Evolution X software on it. I could switch between going into the Evolution X dashboard or the Microsoft dashboard. I have a 120 GB hard drive partitiioned, one for Evolution and the other for the Xbox. I'm able to play on Live on the Microsoft Dashboard, no problems...but must remember not to save anything when on the Evolution. Currently I have 20-25 games on the hard drive, so that means I don't need disks to play. I'm able to play copied games and movies. There are emulators to play some of the roms from Nintendo, SNES, Genesis, and few other older console systems. All you need is the ROMs and you're ready to go. You could even transfer files back and forth through your PC computer. I've had it for two years, no problems. Someone offered me like $400-500 dollars for it because of what it's capable of, but I like it a lot! I'd take offers on it.

Ugh. I tried doing that with my PS2 and it was a total disaster. The non-solder chip installation bent the pins on my PS2 bios and screwed my system up bad. Ended up having to get rid of it and buy a pre-modded one.
For now on, I'm only buying pre-modded systems. :/

I've installed 2 solderless chips in my 2 Xboxes. 1 was 3 years ago and one was 2 months ago. Both a pain. Both of them had screws that weren't long enough and ho;es in the chips that didn't line up with the hole in the motherboard. Had to re-drill them out and use my own screws.
But once I did that I had no problems at all from them.

read as many review/pages on the particular subjects and know what are the pitfalls and so on...
I've done 29 wires soldering Enigmah prototype way back when xbox was released and it was almost total disaster though at the end I was able to save it by putting the alternative track to bypass the tracks I lifted accidentally.
Those so called solderless chips are ok as long as you know what you are doing and follow the instruction carefully. I myself did one for the mate (forgot its name) and it was fine though I read up the pages and pages and got those extra screws and what not before hand to install properly. The solderless chips are designed such way that you are not suppose to give any impact to the console after close up - since any kind of mild to heavy impact can push/pull the adaptor out of alignment.
with PS2 it's far more complicated matter apparently and at the end I got the PS2TEST machine so I don't have to do any mod job since PS2TEST can run any region out of box. ^ ^ I do have few PS2 chips for the curiosity sake with the latest being SBOM chip/usb module combo... I also collect saturn mod chips as well for the sake of collection
