The auction that’s heating up competing video game website’s Ebay forum’s with multiple threads! (And I didn’t start either of them!)

Woh !

what a fantastic auction it will be ;) I'm also collecting video games, and your auction sounds very attractive ;) In fact, I was very fond of the way you had comprehension of our minds functionning ! I had rarely fun on reading such an article ! Thank you very much for this...

The auction that takes the fact that a half cent piece of original shrinkwrap (that can be perfectly reproduced by anyone with a part-time job at Blockbuster) can double or triple the value of a complete game, to its illogical extreme!

The auction that clearly shows how desperate I am to get some free stuff from DP! So vote today and don’t shrink from this opportunity to help me wrap up some stuff that has actual value!

Thanks, and good luck bidding!

Rich

Didn't someone do this before? Not for the contest or anything, but I think almost two years ago on eBay there was a big-deal auction for shrinkwrap..

Yeah. Actually it was our fearless leader Joe who ebayed Quadrun shrinkwrap, which if you read is probably how this gentleman started his collection. :)

Believe it or not, I didn't know about the previous version...I guess "great minds" think alike! :). Was it in a contest like this?...I nolticed it actually got bids! I also saw the archive date of July 2001 which was well before I found Digital Press. I really didn't copy anyone for my entry, and put a lot of effort into it!

It's OK Rich, I wouldn't have even mentioned it if someone else hadn't pointed it out first! You put a lot more time into your entry (I voted "yes").

The one I did was just for my own personal amusement. Yeah. I'm THAT weird. :P

Thanks Joe,

In retrospect, I wish I had known about your auction before I put mine together. It would have been nice to have the guy in my auction catch the "shrinkwrap bug" from your orginal auction and build his collection from there.

But after reading the archive of your auction, I have two questions... 1. Was that shrinkwrap really from a 2600 Quadrun? and 2. Did the guy who won actually pay? Maybe I shouldn't have added the $400 shipping fee to discourage actual bidders....I could have made some easy cash on the side!

No, it wasn't the actual shrinkwrap from Quadrun and no the guy didn't buy it. Actually when the auction ended he emailed with something along the lines of "Did I just buy the shrinkwrap for a game?", probably didn't read the description very well. Anyway, I let him off the hook.

You maniac! I cracked up at your auction, especially the "prototypes" and the DNA enhanced wrap! I'm planning to keep an eye on this auction for the next few days, but am afraid that it will quickly get out of my price range; if not, I may snipe my bid in at the last second!
You may be sick & twisted, but you do know your rare Atari games!

Good Luck!
