-PC game
-first-person shooter
-released around the same time as Quake, shortly after perhaps
-2D sprites mostly (more like Doom than Quake in that regard)
-you play a character who's a dead "western" gunfighter, resurrected, and he uses a lot of Clint Eastwood type sayings
-enemies scream when set on fire, decapitated enemies' heads can be kicked around, etc.
I've been trying to remember the name of this game, especially since playing Prey recently.
Thanks!

Sounds like LucasArts's "Outlaws". Everyone was trying to jump on the FPS bandwagon after Doom.

I think it might have been Blood. I just remeber kicking their heads around. :) I really enjoyed the game. I am pretty sure another came out.

Blood! Yes, that was it. With such a simple title, you'd figure I'd remember. :) Thanks! Now I can sleep tonight...

D'oh you're right, Outlaws doesn't have any killed sherrif in it (just his wife).
Blood is awesome, it still holds up today. Blood II: The Chosen was published by GT Interactive in 1998 when they were on a role with Monolith/Id/etc.
There was a bundle released called the Blood Pack. :D
Blood II really isn't all that great. Caleb is back but it lacks the atmosphere and style of the original thanks to the super bland Lithtech engine. There's also a surprisingly low amount of, well, blood in it given the title and its pedigree.

Outlaws, eh? I'm always up for trying a new LucasArts game. I'll have to give that a whirl sometime.

Oh man...setting those evil cultists on fire was funny funny shit. LOL
"AHH, AHH...IT BURNS, IT BURNS!
But i agree that "Blood 2" was weak in that it took away the awesome 1920's/30's setting and placed it in the future. :hmm:
Fun glitch: Sometimes you can get a zombie to be permenantly on fire and even have him follow you around. Shoot him a few times then let a hiarspray bottle blwo up near him. He will be stuck in the "on fire" animation and invincible to bulltet attacks. If you hit him with more fire he will finish buring up.

Yeah Blood was a great game. You can also finish some of the levels really quick by lobbing those packs of dynamite at your feet 8-)
I did some maps for it as well with Mapedit.

BLOOD... supposed to come out on PSX but never did... a sad day for me.
Didn't play the PC version til '99 or so... remember being disappointed with it... as I thought its potential wasn't even tapped. I recall being disappointed that those Michael Myers lookalike mime's just stood there, instead of running crazily at cha.
Still, a fun game.
Anyone remember Operation BodyCount? I used to play the 1 level demo all the time. You can blow apart walls with the grenade launcher... that's sweet
