Actually, that looks bad ass. I was thinking about purchasing a new PS2 after the PS3 launch. If they drop the prices again or not we'll see but that's around the time when I'll get a PS2. I've wanted a slim and silver looks good, only question is how long are they going to manufacture them? I'm looking forward to playing FFXII and that new Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. It's still listed as Rumor Mill in the guide but I saw it for $50 new at Gamestop just yesterday. :)

That's really bizarre, Dirge of Cerberus came out in Japan in January, and it came out in the US one month ago.

Was it an entry for Dirge of Cerberus ~Lost Episode? That's was more recently announced for US and Japanese cell phones.

I just pre-order mine at Gamestop (brick and mortar, not online). The manager said there was quite a buzz about the silver PS2, but assured me that I would get one on October 24th. Possible BS...who knows. I do know that logic would dictate the silver PS2's will be everywhere this holiday season.

Now it's time to get a silver memory card and silver Logitech wireless controller.

Amen. Call me when a U.S. ceramic white ps2 is announced. But seeing as the PS3 is out in 2 months...I doubt we will see another color. :(

Hmmm, pretty interesting. I've been holding out on getting a US PS2 all these years (had my Japanese one since 2003 or so, and borrowed my bro-in-law's whenever I wanted to play an American game). I decided that I would be best off getting a slim model since I want a way to tell the Japanese and US systems apart (and the slim is about all you can buy brand new anymore), but maybe I'll go with this silver model just to mix things up. I'd like to see another price drop, though.

I definitly will be getting this silver PS2, especially with games such as FFXII, MK Armageddon, and God Of War 2 coming out. Guess its time to sell the old one!

There could still be a white one, PS2 games are still scheduled for release well into 2007. Remember how long the PS1 stuck around? Yeah I know its a slim chance, but a chance none the less.

I'm guessing this wouldn't be a problem now, but didn't the silver PS2 have compatibility issues when it was released in Japan? I think it was mainly obscure titles, except for Tekken 5.

I picked up my pre-ordered silver PS2 at Gamestop this week. I planned ahead and bought two silver Sony memory cards (from the UK) and the silver Logitech wireless controller (from Lik-Sang...RIP) to complete the set.

has sony worked out the problems with the newer PS2's like this silver model. my old ps2 (got the version that came with the grand turismo 2 bundle) is driveing me crazy with Read disk errors and i really like the newer slim versions.

So now that it's out, is there any information regarding the silver's compatibility? I personally don't really care if it has problems with PS1 games (that's what I own an original PlayStation for), but I'd like to know if it has problems with some PS2 games like the Japanese silver slim model had.

The silver PStwo has been out in the UK for a while. And, imho, it looks a bit tacky tbh.

Ceramic white or the new funky pink one all the way. Or just stick to black!

I think best way is get 2 memory card and take the case from old ps 1 memory card :P
