Oh wait, I'm still pissed about beating it as a very young kid and getting that crappy ending. Must've blocked it out of my memory for a second there.

I love Azure Dreams!
any of the Elder Scrolls games on PC.
Everblue 2 (PS2)
After the "official" ending, there are more tasks to accomplish, but after those, you just keep kinda salvaging/selling things.

Super Mario World 2 on the GB. You beat the game but it tosses you right back in the beginning after the credits and throws more enemies into the game.
A lot of racing games. When you play those customizing racing games they can go on forever until you just get bored because you're too bad ass to touch. Even at that point though you can race against buddies.
Columns and Tetris come to mind. There's a ton of older puzzle games that just keep going on until you lose somehow. Same goes with a bunch of old Atari games. They loved to have you repeat a task over and over for a long period of time until you either give up or lose just to attempt to beat a high score you recorded yourself.

That's wrong, all of the Elder Scrolls games do have official endings. Yea, you can still play after them, but they are considered endings to the main quest.

Isn't Duck Hunt one of those games. I never found an end.
It just goes on and on until you fall asleep. Or have I just been to impatient. LOL

No, the score flips when you max it and level 99 goes to level 0, iirc, then back to level 1.
A lot of you are just lisitng games that have shithole endings. The topic is supposed to be about NO endings.
Karnov had an ending, it just sucked, and games like millipede and such don't count becuase they are high-score based games, not goal oriented (a clear end).
I think Chainsaw meant games that have a set amount of levels or a goal and have no ending.
Cheetahmen comes to mind. That's the ultimate example of that.

Indeed, Tetris does have an 'ending' of sorts. Or the original GB version does at least. Beat the normal game and you get a space shuttle taking off. Beat the B game and you get little dancing men.

Some of the early Master System games have no endings, like Transbot and My hero, a good reason for this is since there was a 32k limit for card games, they couldnt fit lots of levels in the games, so just had them repeating infinitly instead.

Yes, but that IS and ending. Bad endings are another topic.

Many games didn't have endings for the Atari 2600. Like the two player only games like Combat and Outlaw. Well you can consider that they do have endings, but no congrats screen or anything. You just have to hit the reset switch and play another round. Also other games like Jungle Hunt really don't have endings.
And a good percentage of NES games don't have endings. Liked Duck Hunt, when you reach a certain score and round you can't even see the ducks, but you can hear them. Then you just kind of get a game over. I wish they would have included an actual ending.
Also many light gun games have no endings. You just reach a certain score and the score loops back to zero. And then you just keep on playing, like in Wild Gunman.

It should be games without endings that should've had endings.
Games like duck hunt and tetris are kinda a given.
Games with a story mode of some sort that dont end.

What are you referring to? There was no Game Boy game named Super Mario World 2.
Super Mario Land behaves sort of like what you describe.

Did you mean Super Mario Land 2? Same with Super Mario Land 1, I would be it in like 15 minutes and my reward would be more enemies.

Play the japanese version of karnov, it had a storyline AND more importantly an ending, insstead of bothering to translate it Data east just cut all the cutscenes out in the us version ;-)
not to say its the best story/ending but its worth seeing if you liked the game.
also karate champ goes on forever, I survived over 90 loops through all the levels and it niether gets harder nor ends after the first 3 levels ;-)

There was. I can remember the ninja standing in an empty field or something... their were definately credits. Maybe I should whip through that one quickly and refresh my memory.

Dr. Mario and Gyromite have no endings either even though they should have.

I actually thought the "viruses in a tree" thing that Dr. Mario did was quite a nice ending. (The "viruses in the sea" used in the Game Boy version was better, though.)

That wasn't really a ending though since those scenes are spread out through the game.
