View Full Version : How do you play Legend of Zelda?

Yeah, Legend of Zelda. I've seen a lot of guys who like to power up and collect heart containers, abuse the gambling glitch and get all possible items and power ups before going after any Triforce.

Me, I like to spread it all out. First I get the wooden sword, then head east to the blue Moblins, fight until I get a bomb. Then I go straight to level 1, and after getting the first Triforce I go straight to level 2, you don't really need any anything special for that labyrinth. Now that I have 5 hearts I get the white sword, and spend some time collecting money and whatever heart containers I run into. Then I buy a candle and the big shield from the hidden shop. Then I take out level 3, buy red medicine, and head to level 4. After level 4 I fool around Death Mountain and get the power bracelet and whatever else is up there, then buy the arrows and Blue Ring for level 5 and those blasted Darknuts, again collecting whatever heart containers and treasures are along the way.

After that there's not much left to do, so I just take out level 6,7,8 and 9

How do you do it?

I usually do it pretty much the same way you just described, getting items as I need them. I have tried it the other way (getting as much as possible before attempting any labyrinths), and I think that makes the game a bit too easy. However, I do sometimes do that with the Second Quest, which is harder.

I like to hit all the hidden coin places and buy the blue ring before I even hit level 1. I also stock up on bombs and go around getting all the heart containers I can before I do any dungeons. Basically, I do as much as I possibly can on the overworld before I start on the dungeons, and when I do, man the first 5 are an absolute breeze (well they all are now, after playing it a million times).

I love how you can go to Death Mountain and even enter the dungeon before you've even done level 1. Too bad true "go anywere" games aren't really made all that much anymore. I hate "on-a-rail" RPG and adventure games.

I usually do it however I see fit when I play it, I haven't played it through in years. I don't normally play it anymore, I'm too much into Zelda II, I may have to do some kind of challenge though and see how much I can handycap myself.

When I play any 2D Zelda game, I always try to get items as early in the game as possible, as a personal challenge to myself.

I always skip ahead and get myself the Wand and Magic Book asap. I love those items.

it's also possible to have five Heart Containers (and therefore get the White Sword) before you even enter the first dungeon, as two of them are found by bombing walls.

Yeah but "Ones without Tri-Force don't go in." :p

I usually collect all the heart containers I can, along with buying the blue candle and large shield. I also get the white sword ASAP. It takes awhile before I hit the first dungeon but it is worth it. A time or two, I bought the blue ring before hitting the first dungeon.

I usually do not play the game long enough to get anything done because yes I am the master of procrastination. I like Legend of Zelda, but I usually just try to speed through the game. This makes fighting things later in the game really really hard. Oh well maybe one day I will learn.
