Well I caved in a bought an xbox last week, mainly just to play Capcom vs SNK 2 online. Also gonna pick up Mech Assault soon to play that online as well. I finally set up my xbox live account yesterday and sat down and played some CvS2 online. It started off pretty bad, as I lost 18 of my first 19 matches. LOL But after a break, I went back and found someone more at my skill level, and got some good wins in, even though I lost the overall matchups at 14 to 9. So my record stands now at an amazing 10-32. LOL

As for lag, there was almost none the whole time I was playing. There were only a few times where it slowed down a bit, and that was only for a few seconds at max. Definately a great experience so far, and definately worth it to be able to get some real competition if you are a fighting game fan. Now I just need to learn to use someone besides Akuma.

Any one else here playing this? My gamertag is buttasuperb if anyone wants to play. I'll usually be on at various times between 6 and midnight central time.

I'll try and catch you after finals are over and I pick up a copy of the game, shit maybe I'll just rent it for a week.

Good to hear there's no lag in the game, after Penny Arcade reamed (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2003-02-14&res=l) the game for it's lag problems.

Well, I was playing in the middle of the night on a Sunday, so that's probaly why there wasn't any lag. I'm sure at the prime time of people playing, there will be some lag.

Anyone here wanna face the wrath of Akuma?

I don't own the game myself...but I know a few guys from the arcade who own it. Look for Xenotech and TKK, those two are pretty good.

Been a live user for some time, both dsl and cable. I can tell you that until you get a solid arcade stick, your rankings aren't going to get anywhere near the japanese players who are dominating the boards.

Great game, both offline and online. The reviewers who were bashing the lag were playing on beta lines, so there was lag there.

Almost everyone I know that has played it has reported almost zero lag. And after playing more intense games with live, the only thing that holds you back is your own slow connection.

Well in all the matches i've played so far (around 90 or so) there was only one person who had bad lag. Most likely a problem on their side. Everything else has been smooth sailing 99% of every match.

How do I add people to my buddy list in this game? The only people I can add as friends are people whom I've played, or people who are online at the time. Is there a seperate place to do that outside the game or something?

Also, when I search for opponents either in console or arcade in CvS2, the most there is on the list is 3 or 4 people. Sometimes there is none. Is it usually like that, or is something messed up on my connection.

Also, these panzies who quit midway through a match that they are getting their ass kicked in are bitches. >:(

If you know the gamertag of the person you want to reach, go in through your xbox live menu before you load the disc (the option on the dashboard when you boot up the xbox), and under account management you can access your friends list and add names. once added, it will send a friendship invitation. if accepted, then you can tell through that or in-game options whether the person is on or send an invite to that person.

As for the search, sounds like it is having the same problem as Ghost Recon had. If an optimatch is allowed, you may want to go through that instead of a quick match search. Keep the search parameters for the optimatch as broad as possible. This worked for ghost recon, and i assume it is the same problem.

God damn I can't wait for this controller adapter to get here. The xbox controller is fucking crap for this game. I can't count how many matches I've lost because I can't get a fucking super out that would kill the opponent. Gets annoying when you lose against someone you're better than. >:(

Here's how you win in CvS2:

Pick Sagat/Blanka/Cammy.
Sit in the corner and hit crouching fierce all day (or with cammy, standing roundhouse and stand fierce).

Repeat til dead.

Yea, Blanka and Sagat are pretty damn good. I don't want to resort to using cheese tactics to win matches though, like some of the people on there.

Just wait til lesson 2: E Honda, or, how to sit on your ass and be untouchable LOL

I'll tell you this right now, nothing wrong with using any of the top characters in that game because of how bad they dominate...like, in every fighter there's best characters, and then there's crappy characters (like in cvs2, Kyosuke). But the problem with CvS2 isn't that Sagat and Blanka are that much better...its how the game itself works. It's a game that is predisposed to giving someone playing uber-defensively the advantage. If you have really really good rushdown, you can break through that. But if you don't, you can match that rushdown by turtling. My friend Juan "VDO" (whose been in tips and tricks a few times if I recall) plays P-groove, and he picks all sorts of characters...he's used Zangief, Raiden, Kyo, Haohmaru, Ken, Joe, Yamazaki, Iori, and his boy Geese (who is actually damn good), as well as a few others. The man is incredible at parrying and his rushdown is incredible. But he's the only person I've ever seen break the turtling, and even then he doesn't always do it because he has to work so hard, that if he fucks up, he's done. The sheer boringness that results from all this in cvs2 is why I barely play the game anymore ;p It's sad when you can say a glitch like roll cancelling improves the game immensly, and even that didn't extend its life more then a few months.

Although if you want to ask for advice on using S groove or Athena, I'm your man ;p thats right, I play what is considered the worst groove in the game, and until everyone around here started turtling like mad I won with it. But my rushdown is how we say, crappy.
