I was trying to work out a trade with someone on this site and it was brought to my attention that not all of the TG16 CD games came packaged with the outer cardboard box.

I did some research, and couldn't find out which games had boxes and which didn't. Can anyone help me out with a list of TG games that didn't come with the cardboard boxes?

Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure Keith Courage never had a box, only a jewel case, since it was a pack-in. Other than that I think later CD games that used the Super System Card 3.0 came in regular jewel cases only and were branded for the Turbo Duo rather than the TCD. At least thats what I've gathered.

I believe the descriptions in the DP Guide tell you.

Only one I remember off hand is Darkwing Duck...

Yes, they do. But what if you want all the games listed in a handy list instead of having to scrutinize 94 description fields? So the question remains: has DP or someone else got a list posted on the net somewhere?

I believe a few of the descriptions tell you. However, most entries for CD games don't say either way. There are some entries (like Ys I & II) that don't indicate a box, yet I know it exist because I have it. Unless I am missing something, I don't think the DP guide is a good source to compile a list from.

There were two versions that I know of. I believe the version bundled with the TurboDuo came disc only in a plain white jewel case. Fairly sure that's the stock TurboZoneDirect had for awhile. When I bought my 'Duo (used) that's what I got with it, factory sealed but in a plain white jewel case.

Yeah, that's what the guide says (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=2401).

"Produced separately when the Turbo CD expansion came out, and later provided as a pack-in title with the Turbo Duo. CD-ROM2 format. The retail version came with a faux parchment map which was excluded from the pack-in version of the game."

ie. two versions, one retail version that was boxed with a map and one that was simply a pack-in disc only with the TurboDuo.

Here is a rundown of packaging varations of Turbo CD games:

All original Turbo Grafx CD games (CD Rom2 - Non Super CD) were packaged in an outer cardboard box EXCEPT - Splash Lake and Buster Bros., The Y's Book I & II that was packed in with the Turbo Duo also does not contain a Box as well as the map that was packed in the box of teh retail release.

Vasteel(CDRom2) and Exile: Wicked Phenomonom(Super CD) were packed with a foil stamped cardboard overlay. The other Working Designs games (Cosmic Fantasy 2 and Exile - both CDRom2) were packed in Cardboard boxes.

All super CD games were not packed in any kind of box. They were in their jewel cases which were shrink wraped. All the Super CD games have the barcode and game info on the back of the case. This also applies for CDRom2 games Splash Lake and Buster Bros.

Oh - the pack in disc (GoT, Bonk) also did not come in a box - just a plane jewel case with no rear artwork/cover

Thank you so much for taking the time to go into detail for me. This helps immensely.
