A lot of people on this forum seem like experienced Neo Geo users and i've got one on the way to me so i was looking for a little help. Could everyone please give ONE must have title for this console. As if it were the only title you could own for the console with a brief description of why you have chose that title aswell.
Once i have had a substantial amount of recommendations i will pick the game that has had the most votes and purchase it as my first Neo Geo game. :D
Thanks

Baseball Stars 2
This game is just amazing and the multiplayer is what makes it shine. If i had to get rid of all my neo games except one it would be this one.

It really depends on what genere you like i guess. If you like shooties then I could reccmmend Andro Dunos.
If you like Sports I might suggest Baseball Stars 2 or League Bowling. Both these sports titles are best with 2 players.
If you like fighting well thats a though one. There is always KoF 98 or Samurai Shodown 2 or even one of the many later releases.

Samurai Shodown II could the only game I own for ANY console and I'd still be happy. Best fighter ever made.

Defintiely Sam sho 2. There's plenty of other fantastic shooters, fighters, and misc. games on the neo, but that's really the best bang for the buck.
As good as Andro Dunos or viewpoint are, you may not be able to afford them :P and though League Bowling is cheap and fantastic, you'll really want more than one person to play it.

Faaatal Fury Tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
How much money are you looking to spend on a game? The prices of Neo Geo Home Cart games vary greatly depending on the title.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves is a great Neo Geo game.
If your more budgeted I'd go for Samurai Shodown II.
Personally though, I think your first Neo Geo game should be Magician Lord. There's something about that game that is just SO MUCH fun to play.
Faaatal Fury Special
There thats better
Samurai Showdown/Spirits 2 is really good, but I'd go with Last Blade myself. Very Very good game.
BlazingStar is fun, but it gives me headaches, too much stuff going on.
League Bowling rocks, its easy to get into and fun for the whole family.
I like KOF 2000 the best but most people say that 98 is better. It realy depends if you like the striker system or not.

Metal Slug 3 is THEE game of choice in my store, it's done better than other games mentioned here including Blazing Star, Samurai Shodown 2 or any King of Fighters game.

if you're a fighter fan, let me put in the bid for:
King of Fighters '97
yeah, a lot of people will mention 98, or 2000, or 2002 which is fine because they all really are good, but '97 has most of what '98 has but actually has a storyline too. And for someone that actually likes story in their games...
KoF '97

But on the flip side some people prefer music in thier games...

My favorite would be NEO Turf Masters... but only if you like a fast-paced arcadey type golf game.... and only if you don't mind searching long and hard for it.... and only if you don't mind emptying your wallet to buy it... @_@

You didn't specify CD, MVS, or AES. There's exclusive releases to each system.
If I had to pick ONE, I'd go for Metal Slug 2. Classic. Blazing Star is my fave shooter....

Oops, missing the edit button here....
One thing to keep in mind is the extreme prices of AES carts (for some titles). Neo Turf Masters is a great recommendation, as is Metal Slug, but both will command at least $1000 (over $2k for MS!). if you got a CD or an MVS system they are much cheaper....

It's an AES console i have brought i understand that the carts are more expensive and i was looking into getting a converter to play MVS carts i just wanted the proper console though :D
I have really took an interest in the Neo Geo stuff though as i have only just discovered it so i think i would push the boat out and spend more on some of the rare games. Thanks for the replies aswell guys. :D

So does '94, '95, '96, '98, '99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, XII, and "2006." :p

Don't know of any in 98 or 2002, or XII for that matter :P
97 is just noteworthy because they're so damn practical to pull off, like 2000's or 94's. Also, the fact that your MAX mode in advanced doesn't end with a super like in 98 hurts the game, if you ask me.

Samurai Shodown II if you're on a budget...

MOTW is a must have Neo Title.

I never really dug the King Of Fighter games for some reason.
But I do absolutely love the Samurai Shodown series, even including 3 and 4, though I must admit that Last Blade is an even more finely distilled version of the same concept, so I guess I'd pick Last Blade 2 if I could only have one game.
Or Metal Slug 3.
Or Twinkle Star Sprites.
