I just picked up a complete copy of Lunar the silver star for 5 bucks at a local Goodwill. I don't know alot about Sega CD games and was wondering what it might be worth

No need to be a jerk
I took a quick look on ebay and prices are ranging all over the place from about $40 to $90. Not sure about the rarity guide since I do not have a copy.
I wish I could find such cool stuff at my local Goodwill :)

Nether eBay or the DP rarity guide will tell me what collectors are willing to pay for a game.
A perfect example is Contra Force DP says it's worth 5 bucks and I seen it on ebay for as high as 100.
I’m wondering because I’m not sure if I want to keep it or trade it for some NES games.

Yes, i have this same problem. Right now, I'm trying to get a copy of FFVII to play again and stupid ebay is like $70-100 for a copy of this very common game O_O

lunar the silver star is worth $25 to $45 complete. it also matters on disk art rarity. for questions like this, I agree that you should either post it in the correct thread (the price check thread) or check ebay completed items.

You just answered your own question. Ebay and Dp are not always in colab, ebay prices flucate all the time. The general consensus is that ebay is a good place to check a price on a game, of course you're lucky enough you might be able to find Contra in the wild for $5, the same with many other games.

I just checked contra force, the DP online rarity guide labels it as $15 cart only (it is a R5 though, perhaps you were confused on value with rarity). is that wrong, yes, but it isnt THAT far off. its about a $30 cart recently on ebay but you could find it for $15 with a little work.

My apologies I meant to say that the DP price for Contra Force was $15.00. I just took a look on eBay and the cheapest copy in North America is currently at 31.00 with 9 bids and just over a day left on the auction. I’ve happened to be watching this title for a while both on DP and eBay and I haven’t come across one for any ware close to 15 bucks. That being said if someone out there would like to let a copy go for that please let me know.
Now I’m not bashing DP’s price list as I use it a lot for price comparison but what a collector is willing to pay can varies quite a bit when comparing to eBay and or the DP guide.
I know as does every other collector out there that it is possible to find a copy of a rare game in the wild for next to nothing (I picked up a copy of jungle hunt for the ColecoVision last summer for 50 cents) but that doesn’t influence the price a collector is willing to pay or sell a game for. All I was looking for was a range of what the game is worth to the people on this forum so I could make a decision on weather or not to post it in the buy and sell thread. I never thought I would receive negative feedback on a price check post. As for this being posted in the wrong section, I haven’t frequented this site in a while and wasn’t aware of this change however I am now.

Sorry about the typos; I guess I should have glanced at the text before posting it.
