This week, Thurs. March 10th at 10:00 pm est., MTV is having video game addicts on it's True Life show. I don't know much more, I only read the description in TV Guide. I think I'll be checking it out!

First off if you don't watch MTV True Life you should. It's an excellent show. I am very excited for True Life: I'm A Gamer but I won't be home to watch it. Hopefully I will see it on a rerun soon. Sorry if I'm offending any "gamers" but the people in the ad for the show look like the hugest dorks I've ever seen. I think it will be hilarious. It's definitely on Thursday the 13th @ 10:00 pm.

It'll probably suck shit. It most likely will support any stereotype MTV feels is associated with games, i.e. derogatory ones.

Here is Entertainment Weekly's synopsis of the show:
Tim ("Suicide Bob") can name all 38 characters from The King of Fighters'98, a videogame that was released five years sgo. Yet even with his impressive attention to detail and extraordinary memory skills, the 25-year-old lasted just six weeks in college because he "couldn't remember anything." Such is the often contradictory life of a hardcore gamer. MTV's docu follows Tim's crew (also including members like "Longshot," Hatred," and "DaAsian") as they live, lounge, and wear the skin off their thumbs pushing buttons for six hours straight. The excess is all a bit depressing until you see professional gamers like Fatal1ty, who pockets hundreds of thousands of dollars for excelling in cyber-slaughter--to which we say, GAME FREAKIN' ON!
The reviewer gave it a "B".

Argh. Entertainment weekly is trash. If they give something a rating above C, it's usually complete BS.

Well, poo to you. :D Did you honestly expect MTV to portray ANYTHING accurately? I'm sure many of their true life shows take things out of context and exaggeration by editing.
And I just don't like EW. They try and grade things critically, when their magazine is anything but that. I especially don't like it when it shows up in my mailbox after never ordering it.

I watch True Life on MTV when I can. It's actually a show on MTV that doesn't feel like a show on MTV. I usually learn quite a bit from that show; This episode should be interesting.

It sounds like it'll be a repeat of their feature on furries from last year.
MTV's a lot like the jocks and cheerleaders in high school. It seeks to marginalize everyone who doesn't fall within its standards of perfection, which change at any given moment. It's also shallow, soulless, and contributes nothing of value to society, just like the aforementioned jocks and bimbos.

MTV started sucking ass about the same time that "Yo MTV Raps" was introduced. I've hated it ever since. It really doesn't qualify as "Music Television" anymore at all. I did like Loveline a lot though! :)
