I just got my security bit for opening up nintendo systems and would like to know of some good mods for SNES, N64 and Gamecube. I am going to paint a SNES black, and minght paint a N64 and plan to buy another gamecube in the future.

What good mods are there for these systems?

You see on the upper part of the N64 shell, the deal that holds the dust doors in place? If you take that out you'll notice two squares of plastic on either side down where the cartridge rests. Just like the SNES tab removal mod to get Super Famicom games to fit, you have to cut those out to get JPN N64 games to fit. I usually use a small handheld rotary tool with a cutoff wheel.

Well if you own a N64, you need to own Sin and Punishment. There you go, one reason to import ;)

Here's a simple one - blue power LEDs

I've done this to most of my consoles. It's quick and easy, and pretty great looking :)

Here's my cube:

And my n64:

The pictures kinda suck - they were taken with my old digital camera.

You could do the gamecube region mod, that is pretty simple and could prove useful. I haven't done this one, but I will if I ever find a Japanese game I want to play.

You could also do the N64 overclock mod. I have done this one, and it is rather interesting. I haven't had much luck overclocking newer games like Perfect Dark, but it does work with games like GoldenEye. I really don't ever use it, but it is cool knowing it is their. I did it so I could adjust the overclocking and sometimes underclocking can be even more fun. You need a "Funtastic" colored N64 to do this one though. I believe I used gamesx.com as a guide for this one. As a heads up, there is some semi-intricate soldering.

Yes, that is exactly what you need. Here is the web-page with the information I used: Link (http://www.gamesx.com/misctech/n64oc.htm)
