For North American titles:

1. Did Nintendo include the little plastic cases with all games for the entire classic Game Boy run, or did they stop including them after a time, as with Super Nintendo? When would that be, if so?

2. What about the black Game Boy classic/GB Color hybrid carts (such as Zelda: LA DX), did they come with plastic cases? (I think not) I know that no true Game Boy Color "transparent" carts came with cases, correct?

3. I believer that all official NES games had sleeves, with the red Nintendo logo for first party games, and plain black for third party. Is this correct? Did they ever leave out the sleeve?

4. SNES games.... when did they stop including the plastic cover? 1995?

Thanks for your help :)

I'm pretty sure all grey-cart (non-color) Game Boy games had the plastic cases. None of the black or clear GBC carts had them though

I bought the Sunsoft rerelease of FF Legends II in the year 2000 or 2001, and Im positive it didnt have the plastic case.

Then again, this could be due to the fact that it was a rerelease.

Adding my own related question: I've ran into three distinct types of sleeves: plain black, black with flat red "Nintendo", and black with metallic/shiny red "Nintendo". Were the metallic red sleeves used for a particular run? (like a "best seller" run)

I believe the sleeves with the red metallic logo were used on the earliest NES games, they later switched to the standard red. I'm not sure exactly when this was done.

Actually, I have memories of buying later games like Startropics II and getting a shiny metallic Nintendo logo sleeve.

Thanks for your answers guys.

Yeah, possibly. I remember that rerelease of the FF GB games was actually from about 98 or 99, after the launch of the Game Boy Color. It was probably one of the last GB Classic games ever made, so who knows if its case (or lack thereof nyuk nyuk) was unique.
