Finally found the missing switchbox for my RCA Studio II console, but still don't have the original power supply that plugs directly into it. Does anyone know of another console's power supply that will safely work in its place (ala the Oddessey2 being able to use an NES power supply)?
Thanks,
Rich

I wonder if an Atari 2600 power supply would work? Back when I had a 4 port 5200 and no way to power it I pressed my luck and tried that switch box with the VCS P/S and it WORKED. Will it work for the Studio...I dunno. The box does say 9VDC.

Doesn't it take 9v?

I'm pretty sure an Atari 2600 AC adapter works.

9v 2600 PS works fine with it.

Please let me know how this works out. I have a line on one of these locally that's missing an AC and RF and will definitely pick it up if I can sub something in.

2600 PS works fine, but you need that RF adapter, since the power supply plugs into the RF thingie rather than into the console.

The 2600 power supply worked like a charm. If you're looking for a substitute switchbox, check out a build-it-yourself option HERE (http://www.old-computers.com/magazine/view.asp?r=2&a=14)...it's not pretty, but the guy claims it works great.
Good luck,
Rich

LOL That would be a lot nicer if he'd drop the 90 cents or so and build it on a perf board.

I had to build my own switch box for my RCA Studio II, but I think I just used the schematics from the switch box for an Atari 5200 and it worked. The picture is kind of fuzzy though. Rather than putting it on a breadbox or perf board, I simply built it into an old Radio Shack RF switch.
