I signed up for Paypal a few days ago and today I got this message

From time to time, randomly selected accounts are subjected to an advanced verification process based on our merchant accounts/bank relations and customers credit card. PayPal may also request in an email message scanned/faxed copies of one or more photo ID's. Your account confirmation may go wrong if your credit card/bank account is expired, or if you have changed your credit card number, billing address etc. without notifying us about the change. Subject of this verification process are also the accounts that have unpaid dues to PayPal. Your account is not suspended, but if in 48 hours after you receive this message your account is not confirmed we reserve the right to suspend your PayPal registration. If you received this notice and you are not the authorized account holder, please be aware that it is in violation of PayPal policy to represent oneself as another PayPal user. Such action may also be in violation of local, national, and/or international law. PayPal is committed to assist law enforcement with any inquires related to attempts to misappropriate personal information with the intent to commit fraud or theft. Information will be provided at the request of law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Total scam! I get thse emails from time to time. My question is how do they know I have paypal...

hope my information isn't being sold/bought.

The e-mail it sends from kinda reviel that its a scam. Also check if the link thats written in the mail really links to another site.

The usual scam.

Paypal never asks you for your password.

I keep getting those emails even though I don't have a paypal account on my email address, so I wouldn't worry about PayPal selling your email, dgordon86.

Yeah, it seemed pretty obvious to me... It's written so terribly that I had no idea what the idiots even wanted.

But, you never know. Just thought I'd ask.

Wow....scam if I ever saw one.

PayPal may also request in an email message scanned/faxed copies of one or more photo ID's.
That should hint anybody off right there.

Your info probably is being bought and sold :P But maybe not in this case. My parents get these scams all the time and never have used paypal or e-bay

Once you saw the email adderess you shouldn't have had any doubts that it was a scam.
