I went to EB today to pick up a cheap-o copy of Pokemon FireRed when I saw this in the used display case:

It's obviously a pirate cart. The 108 games are 1 GBA game (Barbie something or other) and 107 NES roms being played using PocketNES. It'll play in a GBA, GBA SP, DS and DS Lite. It will not play in a GB Micro.
Is this just a flash cart with a fancy label?
If so, is it possible to overwrite it so I can put my own games on there?
Thanks for any input!

How much did EB charge you for it? Did they know it was a fake? Curmudgeon Gamer just found a fake DS game at Gamestop, pointed it out, and the clerk didn't care. He put it back in the case to be sold!

No it's not a flash-cart just a bootleg Gba cart.
There's quite a few on Ebay and you can buy them overseas.
I'd have bought it for $5-$10 if I saw it though. They usually go for $30-$40 on Ebay.

They were selling it as a used game for $9.99. I used my edge card so I got an extra buck off. As for whether they knew it was fake - how could they not? Anyone that's vaguely familiar with videogames could tell thats a pirate cart.
Oh well, even if its not re-writable in any way, it's still neat to have and has some decent NES roms on it :D

I have seen Pirate Carts on 2 different occations.
A 200 in 1 or somthing like that at a pawn shop selling for $99 CDN.
A Pirate Pokemon LeafGreen at a EB Games at Regular Used Price.

There's a Korean-owned store in here that sells bootleg GBC and GBA carts for $70 a pop. Like someone's gonna buy them at that price. This is the same guy that sells freakin NFK2K for the Dreamcast at $45. x_x

Could you take a picture of the circuit board inside of the cartridge shell?

Sure - I will tomorrow - but why?

I want to see what components were used. Official GBA carts use unusual combination chips that have seperate functions in addition to storing the game ROM, pirate outfits have been known to make carts that are programmed much like flash carts, but can only be written to one time only.

Do these things use the same old pirate trick of putting in duplicate games to make the total number sound more impressive?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It's more likely that a 108-in-1 pirate has 90% the same roms as another -- they don't vary things up so much.
I'm amazed that people pay $30 and up for these things -- if you're going to pirate, pirate for cheap or free, and if you buy a game buy legit. Besides, those GBA multicarts sell to locals for way less than $10....

Usually they do - this one only has 1 double - someone stuck Ronald McDonald into Burger Time and called it Ronald Time or something. So really its a 107-in-1

Neato. I'd like to buy one of these but eBay is highway robbery.
The only thing that disappoints me is that it doesn't work in the micro.
