So I ordered some games off of ebgames.com and they sent them to me. One of the games which happend to be Ico was actually a demo and not the full game. I notified the eb people and they are sending another copy with the quickest shipping possible. I will now have Ico as well as a copy of the demo. And after saying all of this I still do not support EB over other smaller name game stores.

Wow, that's pretty great customer service :D

I also try to support the smaller game stores more than the chains, but I'm still pretty impressed.

Its nice to see a thread about somebody finally having a good experience at a game store. I was beginning to get the impression that all game stores tend to suck.

Yeah i'm exaggerating a bit.

I ordered MGS2. It arrived with no case, no manual, and had one of those HUGE rental stickers vulcanized to the entire surface of the disc. I attemped to remove it, because I had pulled it off of PS1 games before. Big mistake. It ripped the entire layer of paint off the disc. It's like I gave them my money, and they gave me poo in a bag. I attempted to return it and they sent it back to me, because it still played fine regardless of it's hidious appearance.

EB / GameStop is where video games go to die.

It's funny because I had this same experience twice.

The first time they sent me Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy IX, and Valkyrie Profile with just the discs and no cases or manuals. I emailed them and they were extremely helpful in allowing me to return them for complete copies.

When the problem happened again with Zone of the Enders Second Runner, I wasn't too worried about it. I emailed them, and to my surprise, they told me that all sales are final and that manuals/cases were not guarenteed with used games. That was the last time I ever ordered anything used from gamestop/ebgames. Now I stick to amazon and ebay when i order online (don't even get me started on half.com .. I've never had any luck with any retailers on that shithole and I've never been refunded my money).

Well, and the buy/sell forum :)

Glad someone had a good experience. I stopped buying at EB 6 months ago. I get games in better shape with Non of those impossible yellow stickers at Goodwill. And here of course.

As I said... the only good thing Gamestop has is the 3 fo $10 used DVD bin.

Everything else sucks. :(

Yeah EB now says that used games may come without case and manual ,but I figured that they never said it could come as a demo so I asked for an exchange and they were extremely helpful. Maybe the guy who read my email had just got laid thats why he was so willing to help

I never buy anything from EB/GS online. Too risky. Nothing used anyway

it has ALWAYS been their policy not to guarantee manuls or cases. thats why ps1 games are really hit and miss, and why most collectors dont buy then online from eb or gamestop(theres prior threads about this)...

i once ordered genesis games that looked as though they took a wire wheel and sanded off the rental stickers from the label...no joke. i still have one of these games for posterity, as it would have cost as much to return the item as it did to buy it.

whoever got the complete games sent to them got lucky! nice work!

EB and Gamestop Online is wheres the poos at

I think they get all the stuff from the B&M Stores thats to crappy to sell to pepole that see it before they buy it

Now Really who would spend $20+ on a Crappy shape CD only game

GameStop executives often get together with Tom Cruise, the CEO of Wal-Mart, Carlos Mencia, Rosie O' Donnell, Michael Bolton, Courtney Love, Kamino, and Kaz Hirai, and they all eat babies. It's true! I saw it on Nova.

I saw that episode. That was the one where Satan was grilling the babies and fighting with Rosie O'Donnell about who gets the ribs.

The first time I ever bought a used game from GS/EB was several months ago. Took a gamble on Valkyrie Profile that was actually in stock. Figured even if it was disc only, $37 + shipping is a pretty good price for it. Was pleasantly surprised when I recieved a nearly flawless, complete copy.

It's too bad that with the GS/EB merger that they went with the GS site's policy of not guaranteeing case and manual.

EB never guaranteed a case/manual either

Yeah I am figuring the person who took my complaint must have just got laid because he was actually friendly when he replied and people are only happy at work right after they have been laid thats scientifically proven.

There have been several instances where I've gone into an EB games and found Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt labeled and priced as the full game. I considered mentioning it to the clerk, but chances are he wouldn't give a crap anyway.

Actually, I lucked out on this stupid practice a few months ago, when I found the demo version of Minish Cap sitting in the display case among the other copies. Needless to say I snatched that up. :D

I did not even think to look for copies of ds and gameboy games that are demos that would actually make money unlike getting a copy of a disc game cuz those are always really cheap and not worth anything unlike cartridges

Why anyone would order anything from EB/GS is beyond me.

The chances of getting only a disc with no case or manual is too high. Isn't the whole point of buying a game to get a complete copy? I mean, that's the only reason I actually buy games.

It's a cakewalk to just go download any game I want and burn it to a CD-R or DVD+R (basically all CD or DVD-based consoles and addons), or send it over to my Xbox's hard drive. Hell, even the GameCube's easy to pirate on these days. Then I've got flashcarts and emulators for most cartridge based systems...I think I only have one or two systems which I can't easily pirate something onto 'em.

There's not much difference between a pirated game burnt on a CD-R and some shitty disc-only used copy.

Hell I would not be surprised if most of the stuff sold at EB/GS is in some way pirated it would not surprise me especially with the dvd's you could probably make a killing selling pirated dvds at that place
