According to the Euro SMS .PDF, HES stands for "Human Engineering Software"
I didn't add this, and it's not in the source file, which means the DP Database added this automatically.
According to Atari Age, HES stands for "Home Entertainment Suppliers"
And the SMS 4 Pak all action box states this as well.
Is there a second HES, or is this some crazy error??

I know for a fact that HES in Australia, who have been around since the 2600 days and are still kicking (http://www.hesinteractive.com/), stands for "Home Entertainment Suppliers." I haven't seen this 4 Pak that Raccoon Lad is talking about, but it certainly sounds like something Home Entertainment Suppliers would put out. I'm guessing it totally sucks too?
By the by, there are still a couple Game Boy Color compilations of Sachen games on HES' website, if anyone is interested.

Seems there are several HES'.
We need to create a unique "Manufacturer Name" for each. Keith, do you know WHICH HES did the SMS stuff? If so, email me with the correct breakdown of HES and I'll make a permanent change to the database. Mat (Mayhem) has pointed this out in the past as well.
Nice investigatve work!

I'm not Keith, but...
SMS? I wasn't aware of any HES in the SMS world...
Home Entertainment Suppliers did 2600 & NES stuff; Human Engineering Software did C64 & VIC-20 stuff. I think there's no overlap between the two for systems, though I may have left out some.
Are there other HESs too?

The "Home Entertainment Suppliers" version of HES did an SMS 4-in-1.
(see SMS Europe list in Rarity List link)

Home Entertainment Suppliers released most of Activision's C64 cart catalog in Australia (with their own packaging, hence need for a different entry) along with a number of unique C64 carts of their own (Leaderboard, Kung Fu Master, Wonderboy amongst others). Look for the reference "HES Australia" in the C64 import section of DP guide#7... that's my terminology for the company down under.
I would point to the HES Australia page on my website, but as I wrote in the emulation thread, it's currently offline :(

Thanks Mat!
So that's the solution Mister Lad - Use the manufacturer name HES Australia for that entry. Let me know if it's still unclear.

Though in all honesty, we perhaps should not use the acronyms and just use expansions here...
Human Eng Soft
Home Ent Supp
Does that sound good for the DP guide references?

Works for me! Feel free to change this in the C64 section. Thanks again, brother!

Now I've got Access running on my brand new spanky PC, these have all been changed over. Next on the agenda... German educational cartridges
