Yup they started, with what looks like legitimate bids on some:

EDIT: Links removed, but they are appearing!!

Post here your thoughts, and if you see any other insanity auctions!

Well from what I have heard, you can't ebay the preorder of the PS3 quite yet. It can only be 30 days before the launch then you can ebay a preorder, not sure if this is true (30 days number) but the 2 ebay links are removed from ebay.

I remember when Ebay introduced the PS3 category over a year ago LOL Was removed later on tho.

If I can get even remotely close to eBay prices on DP, I'll sell my unit here, but I don't think that's going to happen :)

It's not price-gouging if there's no reserve LOL

Have you seen sellers with actual PS3 units in hand, ready to ship? I only see pre-orders for sale, not actual consoles.

Here we go again with stupid people buying systems off of ebay for way too much. Just wait, what the hell is the rush. I'll be damned if I'd pay anything more than retail, period!

and that is my opinion - take it as it is - or get bent!

I was reading somewhere it's a violation to pre-sell something on Ebay if it's more than 30 days away from the actual release date. Is that true? I'm guessing it would make sense in a way because if you paid using Paypal you have 30 days to file a dispute? Also I noticed there is a lot of PS3's but if you look at the bidders or even some sellers majority of them are ZERO feedback.

I'm still waiting outside Woolco for my pre-ordered Coleco Telstar.

It's cold out here and I'm all out of space-food sticks.

Why would Tom Nook want a PS3 for that kind of money? He should be happy counting turnips! :D

For eBay the window to file a claim is 10-60 days after the auction ended. For PayPal the window is up to 30 days after payment is sent. After 60 days (ebay) and 30 days (paypal) you cannot file any type of claim, so you'd be scammed if the seller never sent the item. This is why I think they have the 30 day rule for pre-orders.

On a sidenote, I'm sure eBay Final Value Fees for a one million dollar item are several thousand dollars...and I'd bet my house that the buyer isn't actually going to pay for this. Sucks to be the seller.

More than likely it's a kid bidding on his own item or having his friends do it for him...but $1,000,000 dollars...come on!!! I highly doubt someone will pay that much for the system unless they have money to throw away. That's ridiculous...Hopefully Ebay bans that seller. That right there is a red flag.

Holy triple posts batman!!!

Anyway, I noticed one buyer named "PS3sucksx" was bidding on a ton of "Buy it Now" auctions, all the most expensive ones ($2500++/unit).

He was obviously just sabotaging and forcing the sellers to re-list.

I'll have units to sell on eBay, but I'm going to wait until a little closer to xmas when the parents start getting really desperate. Maybe right after Thanksgiving.....

lol

Its funny because he was the 6th transaction on the register...hence the 006. So there were probably 5 employees before him getting the system.

Some people just need to separate themselves from their money. I spend plenty, whether its games, bills, entertainment, etc.. However a 100% markup or worse and forget it. I never spent more then store prices for any new game or console. I can't justify it to myself. I work and suffer to enjoy nice things and pay my way.

Consumer demand creates some insane consumers (who must have consumed too much).

Please. Anyone finding themselves in excess of U.S. currency and needing to be rid of it, send it this way.

I hear you on that, but I assume most of the sales of PS3's on Ebay are from parents buying a console for their kid for Christmas. I'm all set paying $1,500 on a system when I can wait a few months and get it for half. I just don't understand how sony can release 400,000 (or whatever the number is) consoles at launch and be totally cool about it. It would be nice to see a company launch a few million on day one so we wouldn't see this Ebay craziness. I wonder how much a cabbage patch kid would have went for in the christmas craze of the 80's if ebay were around...

Just yesterday I saw prices for the PS3 hitting more then $1400. For me the most interesting thing about PS3's launch will be watching the insane prices it'll go for on eBay.

The Wii is also hitting over the $600 mark. x_x

Perhaps I will buy a PS3 at launch just to sell it on ebay...
