Yup you read it right, looks like the PS3 preorder though can't be started on ebay yet, has hit Craigslist. In my area, there has been about 5 listings already. I wonder are the people selling the preorders on Craigslist successful. If people are willing to offer tons of cash upfront, you may as well not ebaying it to avoid the ebay/paypal fees.

I think that's a pretty dumb concept. Unless somebody is just trying to make a quick $100 or something. The preorder doesn't absolutely guarantee anything and I don't think they are really transferable. My preorder has my name and phone number on it. When you pick up the PS3 on day of release, they will likely want your driver's license to make sure you are the guy with the name on record, so I don't really understand how that's going to work.

The only way I can see it work is that you go to EB or Gamestop on launch day and buy the system with the person that is willing to pay $XXXX amount.

What do you mean it can't be started on ebay yet?
And Anthony, these preorders are about as guaranteed as it's possible to be. The X360 preorders that got bumped back because MS cut its allocations weren't taken a month and a week before launch of the system. I'd put the possibility of not getting a system you preordered veeeery very low right now.

I guess you can do preorders on ebay now. From the week leading up to this past Tuesday, ebay wouldn't allow the PS3 preorders and took them down. Maybe they thought that the preorders wasn't legit or something till Gamestop/EB officially did announced their preorder. Who knows, as of now, you can do preorders of the PS3 on ebay.

Ok is an article on the ebay pulling the PS3 preorder, I guess when you did a search you was lucky that ebay didn't pull them yet.
eBay has now stopped all preorder auctions of PS3 consoles. The reponse email to a cancellation is odd because Wii presale auctions are NOT being pulled, they even say go so far as to say "this item".
But look below at what they expect you to do if your auction gets pulled! They act like they are investigating you for fraud because they suddenly decided to stop allowing these sales (which do not break the User Agreement or rules in any way). Not only that, but why do they need Driver's license and a utility bill, they don't even ask for those when you make an account! And it's not like they don't already have direct access to your bank account as it is! And they don't want to talk to you about it on the phone AT ALL, hey told me that they don't have phones at the Trust & Safety (Safe Harbor) desks!
