yeah, I am putting mine on ebay.. And I just want to know when the best time would be to put it on there.. I am thinking a few days before launch? Im afraid everybody's going to list theirs on launch day driving the price wayy down.. almost all these people on these message boards (myself included) are aiming to sell their systems on ebay..
Should I wait till december?

LOL
You want to sell when the hype is at it's peak. So once you actually have a PS3, I'd list it on launch day or soon after. Oh, and the 3-4 days leading up to Christmas prices should be pretty high.

Actually, if you look at what happened with the 360, the absolute peak was the actual day of launch, about 11:30am Pacific time. My guess why this was the hottest time, is that people nationwide tried to get one at a store, couldn't and then immediately went to Ebay and just panicked and tried to get one at all costs, which drove the price up drastically. I had a extra Xbox 360, and like a dumbass, I waited and had mine on there for Black Friday. For some reason I thought I would get more for my 360 on Black Friday, which was just a few days later. I didn't get anywhere near the $1300 ish prices that were popping around 11am Pacific time on launch day. My 360 sold for $775 which still sounds really good, but after all the fee's and the PayPal fee's and the shipping and everything (shipping was actually $10 more than my estimate), I ended up with an actual profit of like $240, if that. $240 is still great, but again, nothing like the guys that got final bids in the $1300 range.

Hehe was thinking the same. Do you really get a PS3 some days before the launch? If so, how? I wouldnt put it out for sale before you have it in your hands. Even if you pre-ordered you never know what might happen.

Hehe :P Dunno if that was ironic or not. But seriously, selling them right after launch would be the best time i guess. Then the hype is at top and many wants it.

Yeah, I am set for that now. I ordered 2 PS3s recently(one being a present). I am still on the lookout for a 3rd for myself, though I might just buy a 360. If I could edit that thread I would

It was sooner than that. My pre-order came from the second shipment. Got it a couple weeks after launch.

Im going to have to agree with a few of the other people that have posted. As soon as you get it on lauch day, put it on Ebay.
2 reasons: 1. people will bid high after they've been camping all day/night in the freezing cold 2. you never know when the next shipmen/wave of PS3s will hit the stores thus decreasing the eBay prices.

Last year, the highest prices for the 360 came on the actual launch day. People had started the auctions 7 days prior to launch, so that it would end on launch day. Most of them were not 1 day auctions or buy it nows. Only problem is, this time, apparently Ebay is not going to allow that, at least that's the early word on that. I'm hoping to be able to sell one myself, and if I was, I would want to start my auction so that it ends at 11:15am pacific time on November 17th, but I'm not interested in doing a one day auction or a buy it now, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do in regards to that.

Why the disdain from people for 1-day auctions? I'm curious why you wouldn't want to use one.
Anytime I have an auction that's simply going to be one among maaaaaany many many of the same thing, there's no reason for it sit around for 7 days, because way more likely than not, it's not going to get any bids until the day before, unless you started the bid super low or there's something different about yours
