Did they release one or not, if not did any third party companies make one, I would love to have a AV cable for it.

I thought they came packaged with a composite video cable? I didn't have a Master System back then, but I remember when they first came out it was mentioned in several reviews that the system came with a composite video cable. It's the same cable that the original Genesis used too (composite video and mono sound, so yellow and white plugs). And again, when the Genesis came out several reviews mentioned that you could use your AV cable from the Master System on the Genesis, so I assume the Master System came with the cable in the box. I'm sure some Master System fan can answer this definitively. :)

I remember my first SMS set came with the RF switch. (Safari Hunt/Hang On) bundle with 2 controllers and Phazer.

Yet 6502 could be correct on this from earlier reviews when it was first launched

I have a boxed first release Master System and the A/V cable was in the box. It's Ye/Wh, no stereo of course.

I sell third party ones on my site. It's the same cable for NEO GEO AES, Genesis 1,etc. It'll even work on a DUO or SuperGraFX.

I found one on ebay that was stereo, does the SMS support stereo though or just mono?

The av cable for the c64 also works for the SMS, i believe the results are mono

The Master System is only capable of mono audio, so don't worry about that, if you get audio, you've got all the audio. The first model Genesis is only capable of mono from the AV port, as well; you have to use the headphone jack to get stereo. So any Genesis 1 AV cable will work with the Mast er System and vice versa.

The Commodore 64 also only outputs mono and actually if you get a true C64 composite video cable with only composite video and audio plugs, this will not work with the Master System or Genesis, but if you get a chroma/luma (s-video) cable for the C64 that has three plugs (chroma videa, luma video and audio) this will indeed work with a Master System, though only two of the plugs will be needed. I actually have a four plug cable made for the C64 with the fourth plug being "audio in," but I don't even know what that means. It wasn't used for an external tape drive which is what I would have thought.
