View Full Version : My Guide to SNIPING

I know sniping is "controversial" so to speak, some here practice it others avoid it completely.

Nonetheless, I've been sniping since 2002. I know people talk about refreshing and having two pages up. Naw none of that is needed.

Maybe what I wrote is common sense, then again maybe not. But my method has worked and it can work for you too. If you like it enough, please vote "yes" on it. ("did you find this guide helpful or not" part. I have 10 out of 10 right now)

And of course, feel free to post whatever thoughts you may have regarding the guide itself, sniping in general, etc. in this thread.

Discussion is welcomed.

I had AOL in 2002-03. I still sniped with 5 seconds to go.

I was a slow connection too.

It worked then for me, I can't take responsibility if it doesn't work for you BUT

In 02 with a slow connection I would place the bid with 5 seconds to go... and even though it will take, as you said, 7 to 10 seconds to load up the next screen of whether you're the high bidder or outbidded -- the bid is made when you click submit... NOT (made) when the screen is loading believe it or not.

Again, this was 2002 so I'm not sure if anything's changed in 4 years. you may want to experiment on an item that you don't really want, to see if I'm right or not.

Even in 02-03, I had dozens and dozens of 5 second snipes... it wasn't til I got DSL that I started doing 3, 2 second snipes.

Sign up for www.auctionstealer.com

They're nice in a pinch.

You CAN paid to have 5 second or under snipes, but the FREE part of the site allows you 3 bids each 7 days... and the bid is placed in the final 13 to 10 seconds. Not the best, but if you're out of town or away from a computer it comes in handy extremely.

I'd probably had 50+ snipes thanks to Auctionstealer. Not a lot of people bid with under 8 seconds anyways, so the 10 second buffer isn't shabby; though it just doesn't compare to manually sniping with 2 seconds to make ULTRA sure.

yet as I said, if you can't sit there and manually snipe with 2 seconds, knowing that a bid will be punched in with 10 seconds to go -- that's awesome.

heck, I just used auctionstealer this morning. Had an auction ending at 8:58 AM and I knew I'd still be sleeping.

In the past, many auctions ended at awkward times like 1:37 PM on a Tuesday. Hell I'm still in class. Auctionstealer has been a life-saver...

I never bid til the final 10 seconds. It's pointless to bid with 5 days to go.

don't know, I never looked into it.

There's also auctionsniper. I can't remember, but I get when you sign up you get 3 initial free bids with 7 to 5 seconds to go?? I signed up for auctionsniper a long time ago when I was watching a lot of auctions and had already used my 3 auctionstealer bids and it was only Wednesday! I needed 1 more, so I signed up to auctionsniper to get a free snipe.

I prefer to snipe manually though. Much more exciting and rewarding in the end...

This is the best FREE no strings attached snipe program out there.

I personally use the Biet O Zilla plugin for Firefox.

It's free and does 3-5 second snipes with ease.

As was said, use AuctionSniper (www.auctionsniper.com), it's the best service out there hands down and is free - been using it for two years now.

When you sign up please put thelaststarfighter as your referer, I would greatly appreciate it. :)
