i found what appears to be a Final Fantasy prototype. I found 2 carts. I know next to nothing about protos and I am curious as to it's worth. It's in good working condition.

the second game seems to look alot like final fantasy in the board but does not work . Looks alot more like a proto though.

Its value depends a lot on whether there is any differences in the game itself. Can you find any changes such as different graphics, maps, etc.?
The last pic looks like a blank eprom board, there's no chips in the sockets.

Where did you manage to find this one at? I am curious because if it is a prototype this has the potential of being pretty big

there's no roms in the second pcb, you won't get anything out of it without any!

Well now, that's interesting, I wasn't expecting anything more than simple localization changes. Does anyone know what this background looks like on the Famicom version?

It looks the same as the US version. The background in that picture actually looks like the one used for the titan's tunnel. I dunno why it would be in the temple in the proto. A bug?

I am not going to brake anybodys bubble but thee might be the names of the enemies best translated from Japanese to English by a Japanese person from sqaure.
Another thing to look for is mishaped objects. For example Religious figures in the Mother NES game.

that's exactly what they are.

I have looked. There's other differences but they mostly seem to be text differences and typos. There seems to be a slight difference in leveling , I do not have as many hps as the release.

Bringing this one back from the dead. I've beated the game a couple of times and really only found typos and text differences. It's different that you actually fight Garland with the Titan's Tunnel background. Here's a few typos from the ending.

Wow, that's really cool. Have you getting any thought to lending it to somebody who dumps rare ROMs (who would then send it back to you after it's dumped), so it can be distributed on the internet for others to enjoy? I know others have done this with prototypes before.

This is the first I've come across this thread. I just have to say that's an amazing find there! Can't help but wonder who snuck it out of Nintendo and how it ended up at a garage sale. You should try to track its roots back a little if you can, would be an interesting follow-up.
How far is Everett, WA from Redmond (Nintendo's US home)?
miaandjohnrule

not far at all from Redmond. I used to work there. I know where it came from but I'm not really at liberty to discuss it.
