I've never heard of "Zombies From Pluto Stole My Girlfriend", but David Sheff lists it as a contributing factor to the 84 crash.
"The market had been glutted with terrible games. "Pac-Man" was a blast to play in arcades, but the home version "sucked." "ET," ridiculously hyped, "sucked." Zombies From Pluto Stole My Girlfriend" "really sucked."
I noticed in the AVS thread that someone showed incredulity over the possibility of "Game Over" being erroneous. That reminded me (again) of how many questionable "facts" are presented in his book.
I always suspected that Sheff invented "Zombies..", if for no other reason than it sounds like a cutesy sarcastic name that one might see in a comic strip or such. Also, I had never heard of such a game. In preparation for this thread, I did some searching and found only one reference to the name, which is part of a rewritten version of Sheff's account.
There are other things, of course, but I'll have to save them for the all-inclusive "Nitpicking "Game Over" to Death " thread.
So did I miss something?
