According to one of the guys at Sector:NGP (http://www.classicgaming.com/sngp), an early version of the Bleemcast emulator has been released to the public. It's SO early that it doesn't play a lot of games, but it's got to play more than those single game Bleempacks that came out a couple of years ago.
Anyway, this is good news. I can't wait to see how this emulator turns out.

Seemingly big news , yet nobody cares?

This topic is booming on other boards.

I just have to figure out how to burn this on a CD

Anyone interested in this topic?

I couldn't get it to work but then again I have a miserable time with Disk Juggler 4... I used the convert tool to turn the image into a NERO file, but my Dreamcast doesn't recognize the disc.

Did you get it to work, Dustin?

I am going to play around with it tonight,

the instructions from the TNL forum are:

With DiscJuggler tell DJ 'NO' when it asks to repair the image

Someone recommended using version 3.5 of DiscJuggler

Others recommended using a burn software called alcohol

http://www.alcohol-software.com/download.php

which I may also download and try. I won't be able to try until tonight. Can you let me know if you have any luck. Maybe we can help eachother out.

I did the same thing no dice. I've never gotten DJ4 to sucessfully write an image I grabbed online, it always crashes the program. It works fine when I compile a data disk, just not with an image. Normally the cdi2nero tool works, but not this time.

I aint really interested to be quite honest.... what's this do again? Makes your dreamcast play some psx games?

My dreamcast already does double duty for a couple of systems..and it needs to rest. I'll just use my psx or ps2 to play psx games :P

Well if it fulfills its promise (as the bleemcast DC discs did for Gran Turismo 2, Tekken, and Metal Gear Solid), it IMPROVES the look of your PlayStation games, and does so much better than the little tweaking a PS2 can give to it.

I'm stoked about this, and the compatibility list shows much better results than I expected. I promise that once I can get a working copy of this I'll make a NERO image available to anyone who wants it.

I dunno.. looking at some of the compatibility listings, it seems most of the games I'm interested in have graphical glitches. There's no chance of this getting updated, is there?

on the TNL forum that I aso check they seemed to think someone might try and update it. Obviously you can see why they went from 1 Disc for all games to 1 disc per game. Again, like the Half Life game. I want it more for the novelty. It can play some games well, if even just a few it adds life to my Dreamcast and brings me something I really thought I would never see.

I'd SLAY for a homebrewed remix of this disc that works on all my PSX games. Honestly, the upgrades will make all my games seem new again! :) If anyone figures out how to burn it, let me know! I have CloneCD and Nero right now....nothing else.

I have successfully burned it with DJ 4. You have to select "RAW Write" under the advanced tab. I didnt get any repair image error at all, and I looked at the directory of the final burned cd, and there is indeed a bleem.bin there. My problem? I sold my DC not too long ago and cant test it! No worries, I'll be seeing my brother on Sunday, and he's got one. I'll try it there and let you guys know how it works, if someone else hasn't tried it already.

Burn using Alcohol 120%----write method RAW DAO. Works fine. Crusader started up but could not see the menu screen to start game.

I had a playstation underground disk around and it work fine also. The videos looked bad but you could navigate the menu's. I need to buy Einhinder now and play some!

I used Alcohol 120 with the default settings and it worked. Ridge Racer 4 plays well. I came in 3rd. Some other games like Siphon Filter worked but were slow. I have to test my games and see what works well. But for my money R4 is worth it alone!

I can either send you a CD or send you a Nero image file (maybe you'll have better luck there?) Let me know.

Cool. I got it to work with Alcohol 120 too (had to use the RAW option though... RAW/DAO bombed on me).

The compatibility list posted earlier is somewhat suspect though - some of the games listed as "perfect" are hardly that! "ONE" for example - looks and plays great until you get to level two, then it crashes!

We'll have to start our own compatibility list here. Any volunteers?

Also, I'll be posting a NERO image on the site here later, so check back to this post if you want it.

Pretty cool stuff.

A CD would be great, Zektor! I'd really appreciate that.
By the way, I haven't forgotten about those other games I wanted to order from you... I just can't afford them yet. It's dangerously close to tax time and money is extremely tight... :bad-words:

OK!

Here's a ZIP file containing a NERO disk image. If you have NERO, all you need to do is unzip this file, double click the .NRG file and insert a CD-R.

Have fun!

[or don't... my NERO image isn't working]

Use the ZIP file listed above!

Yea if you don't mind a few graphical or sound glitches.

Hot Damn!!!

Burned the DJ image with 3.5, no alterations, no problem. Thing has an annoying flash when you drop it in, but just open the lid, put in the psx game, and your golden. (if golden includes graphical glitches)

Playing Colin McRae 2.0 and, except for intro fmv and menu issues, there are some graphical and sound glitches, but the gameplay is fine, and it is running at the 45 fps that Gran Turismo 2 was running for bleemcast.

Hot stuff.

Oooh REALLY!? But I burned that image myself using my own working copy of the game?! What version of NERO are you using? I know mine is really up to date and I had a problem using images created from this version until I got myself upgraded. Check it out.

Sorry D.P. I couldn't get it to work either, and I do have the latest copy of Nero. I had to use DiscJuggler and the DiscJuggler file to get it to work. :-D

I used that Alcohol 120 program and it burned it fine. Upon trying out a couple games on Bleemcast, I'm not impressed. Sprite based games look really fuzzy on it. I'm sure it looks better for 3D games, but while I was playing Alundra, it was kinda hard on the eyes. And there were lots of minor glitches, as with every game I've tried so far. I know I know, it's just a beta, but at it's current dev, there's really no need to play it more. I tried to play Colony Wars, which was supposed to work, nada. Froze in the middle, missing lots of graphics. Kinda irritating.

Anyway, it would be REALLY cool, except for one thing...you can't save to a VMU. The software doesn't recognize the VMUs and allow you to save a PSX game to them. If it wasn't for that, I might consider using it. As it is, it'll get shelved and stay there.

One other question for those of you in the know. I noticed how much straining the DC does at first to get bleemcast loaded. Is there any way that could affect the GD-ROM drive with extended use? One of my friends said that after a lot of boot disc use, he started having problems with his DC. I'd hate to think I was shortening the lifespan of my system!
