Simple solution people - if you have a problem with the pricing structure, DON'T BUY THE DAMN GAME, PEOPLE!!!!
360 owners are lucky to even have a version of Lumines.
I bought it, and the advanced pack, and I'm quite happy with my purchases. And in all honesty, I'll buy any other add on they wanna release that would add more elements to the game. And even if they made a physical DVD copy of the game, it would probably cost more than it would through XBL.
I'm all for it. And in all honesty, I'm tired of all the whining. It's a great game, and worth every penny.

I won't buy it, because I just am not into puzzlers that much... I think it's too high, but maybe it's because I think I will never play it...
You have to admit, they were pretty shady stating it was the "full version" of the game, when really it wasn't....

That is true - but everyone knew they were gonna be split up into several pieces because of the games size. Even a 3 minute 720p video clip can be 100+ megs, alone. But I do agree they should've included all the single player elements into the main pack, but you should see the Xbox forums - there are people saying they want to sue MS.
It may be a wee bit on the pricey side, but I'm not complaining - it's a fun game.
The only thing that disappointed me about this game was I have yet to hear the song "Shinin'"
It feels weird playing Lumines without that song playing.

I gladly paid the 1800 Microsoft points for Lumines Live and the advanced pack and I've enjoyed it so far. Considering that I paid $30 for the PSP version, paying $10 less for a version that I can play on something larger than a 4 inch screen is worth it to me. My opinion might be slightly biased by the fact that I never really played the puzzle or VS CPU modes in the original, so the lack of complete versions of those features doesn't bother me too much.
If anything, I do miss Shinin' -- that was my favorite song from the PSP version. If it's not in the advanced pack (I haven't unlocked all of the skins yet), then hopefully it will be available eventually -- even if I have to pay for it. ;)

no doubt about it - PSP's Lumines is still the best game for the psp since system launch.
Xbox 360 version feels natural and plays as it should, beautiful visuals, sound, - though I've only played demo, so 3 skins are really limited in the longevity of the game.
I hope there is a shinin there, in the advanced pack ^_~

I've been keenly keeping my eye on this topic through a bunch of forums, as the end results of this issue are probably going to do a lot to mold the face of DL gaming in the future.
First things first though. Your response to the issue is not only misinformed, but childish.
It's very important for consumers to express their feelings, both positively and negatively. It's a way for the industries to research themselves. Your post is equally as ignorant as the ones that you disdain.
As for the problem;
Many consumers have apparently felt "tricked", or "deceived" by the way this game was sold. Not the price. Every forum I have read, most people specifically say it's not about the price. It is about the fact that the game in XBLA was advertised as "full" when after they downloaded it, they felt it was not full. They found out many modes were missing. I won't bother going into further detail, as anyone here can read the forums at www.xbox.com or gamefaqs or what not, to interpret further.
I think the amount of backlash has been huge. Most of the forums have more debating about the tiering schem, than about the actual game.
It will be interesting to see how this bodes for future games, on all of the new systems.
I would not have purchased Lumines , even if it was 400 points. I have no interest in it. On the other hand, I will admit to not liking the tiering of this game. I feel if people accept it, it will only get worse in the future.
I'm just scared that eventually, you will buy a game, either tangible or intangible, and you will be having to make a HUGE monetary investment, to keep up with the game. Kind of like some online RPG's are trending now.
I dont want to buy PGR4 for example and find out that if I want to have a vs the cpu mode with more than 2 tracks, I'll have to pay another 5 bucks. I don't like being nickeled and dimed to death. I already get it from my cell phone, and don't need it with my hobby too.
I think it's really up to the "whiners" as you call them. To decide where this will lead.
Ultimately, for me, if the trending continues, I will just be content to collect for my 20 odd systems that these companies make no money on.
I'm not cheap either, I've bought several XBLA titles for between 400-800 points and I feel I have received good value from them. I even payed for Texas Hold em, which many received for free. I also have many standard titles I have purchased new, at full cost.
Oh, and if I was given the choice of 30 bucks for the DL version, or 50 for a hard copy? Easy, I'd take the hard copy every time. I like manuals, covers. portability without having to stuff the various files on a memory card. And, the ability to trade or resell it if I ever wanted to. Definitely worth the extra 20 to me.

People are getting worked up, not really just at this game, but what it represents for the future of gaming, where every game may be download only. All this hidden costs stuff will do them no favours in the long run, how much harm has this done to their reputation, and how many sales have they lost from the backlash?. If your going to make a download game expensive just be upfront about it, so people can make an informed choice.
If over priced download games are the future, then i will either support the one company that doesnt follow this trend, and there will likely be one, or just play all my old consoles.

No, everyone didn't know. We knew. Hell, we knew months ago. A lot of people don't follow the industry closely. They seen full, paid 1200 points, and then tried to play the puzzle mode. At 1200 points, it's logical you're getting everything compared to the other Arcade titles.
I have no problem with the price. I actually like the concept. I hate puzzle modes, and if their deletion can save me a few bucks off the price, fine. However, it's advertised as full with additional content. That doesn't really tell the story at all, and people have every right to be pissed.

iit's really pathetic for them to do this, honestly there's no reason for them to have release it in packs like this other than to rip off the consumer.

I ended up buying it, I figured why not. Though there is one thing about it, the controls. The D-pad doesn't seem to work the best with the game and the arcade stick is just as frustrating to use. When I use the D-pad the pieces move over to the right one space without me touching the pad. The control stick is hard to get the pieces exactly were you want them to go. I don't even bother with the analog stick, it doesn't feel correct at all.
Anyone else?

I did notice that as well on the trial but I dunno it's strange
I wish they would do a retail release and I would buy it right away.

Yeah, the controls are strange would be a good way to explain it. Kinda funny when the PSP version's controls are actually better.

The more Mircrosoft wants to charge for an xbox live game, the more I speak with my wallet. I dont care how good a game is, the fact is that I have many other options of games to play.
