Game Reproductions (http://www.gamereproductions.com/)
I check them every day and finally their back-up. So get in your repros before they take too many orders again. 37 NES games currently offered. 1 SNES which is Dragon Warrior V for 45 bucks. I asked them about some other SNES games and they said no to everything. Too bad to me but I'm pretty sure that they do just about any NES game. Onlt slightly cheaper than NES Reproductions. Sorry Leon.

Yes, because selling carts without asking permission from, or crediting the romhackers, is ALWAYS A GOOD THING DONCHA KNOW.

I think this is really awesome its a great way to get copies of some of those games that you really wished you could play on your NES and so what if it happens to be illegal I am sure all of us have roms for more than 24 hours and not though twice about it.

I like how they claim it's legal to sell because they've "never been released here". I really don't think Nintendo and Square would agree with that reasoning if they saw that SMB2 Japan and Final Fantasy 2 and 3 are being pirated. I seem to remember games like SMB2 Japan being ported over on Super Mario Allstars for SNES and as a hidden game in Super Mario Bros DX on Gameboy Color.

As Kitsune said, the romhackers who put in hundreds of hours to translate these games absolutely hate these reproductions. Way to piss them off! There is no way I am going to support this guy.

Well, for instance, if I was going to order a repro cartridge that was a translation I would first want to buy the original native cartridge. That justifies you in using a patch. Then I would see if I could find who did the translation and at least e-mail them saying "I appreciate the work you did on this patch, I'm going to order a repro from these guys, etc." That's just me though. Now if they were going to do the work and build me the cartridge, I would order it from them. But I have yet to come across someone directly involved that does.
I do agree however that those that sell these should at least give credit to the romhacker on the label or something. Then again I still think that until the romhackers use their REAL NAMES that they can't complain. (sorry Kitsune, no offense - I really do appreciate your work, especially on the Akumajou Densetsu translation) I just wrapped some VA work for a Beats of Rage mod and you wouldn't believe how many people don't want to use their names in the credits. Years ago I was co-writing a hentai dating sim by the name of Cyandie High. Spent a LONG time doing production, getting it ready, had a nice little staff, and after pouring all that time into it there were still people that wanted to use assumed names. Granted that project got dissolved when DOS support left most computers, but it was like "don't come crying to us when you can't pick up any work down the line because you have no proof of working on this game."
The goal in the end however, and I'm sure most romhackers would agree or they probably wouldn't release patches to begin with, is for the games to be played and enjoyed. $25 for an NES repro isn't bad, now if they were charging $50 or varying the price heavily by title, I could see getting pissed off to no end.
It's one of those things in emulation where your hands are already bloody so it's not like you can do anything. Although it's nowhere like this, a good example is one criminal saying to another "I'm gonna call the cops on you."

Please don't group the entire Digitpress community into your assumption. I don't have any roms.

This thread isn't really a thread for objectors of reproductions on carts made from Rom translations or Illegal piracy. That subjects been killed to death and discussed at length in other threads.
I see everyones point but I'm a gamer and as a gamer want to play the games the way that they were ment to be played- on a system. And as I don't want to bother importing a system for a couple of games, and adapters are not always an option, reproductions are a viable option for gamers who can't make thier own. You can't expect people to do it for nothing, so customers pay for their services.
Neither NES Reproductions or Gamers Reproductions could help me so I won't be using their sevices.
So, this is more for people who buy to play and consider it a necessary evil to gaming. It is a thread to inform gamers that the long closed site is back-up.

Look at my readme files. My name is right there, at the bottom. (Well, in most of 'em.) Every single page on my site has my name on it, too. I use my kitsune.sniper GMail account for professional (non-romhacking, real world translating) correspondence. I even MENTION my translations on my resume! Everyone knows who I am and what I do. :P
Anyway.
I'm all for cart repros, as long as:
A) The guy making them makes no profit from the creation of the cart;
B) The guy explicitely states where the translation came from;
C) The guy doesn't try to say it's legal. (It's NOT. IT NEVER IS. Unless of course the author gives his blessing.);
D) The guy says upfront that many of those translations, especially the SNES ones, will NOT WORK PROPERLY on real hardware. These patches are made with emulators in mind. They're not perfect.
Ahem. *shuts up*

How about your avatar then? I'm sure you secured the rights to use it didn't you?

Ah, DAMMIT, I miss the freakin' edit button.

By that, I don't mean romhack authors - I mean the original programmers. I don't think Nintendo will let people put the Earthbound/Mother Proto on carts. I'm not sure about the HeroQuest guy, though.

The Game I might get on there site is Super Mario Bros. 2 (J) But I could always put my Famicom Pirate cart of this game in a NES shell

I mean jesus I own copies of almost everything I have roms for, but I am not really having any luck picking up dragon warrior 4 or 5 so roms are the only way to play the game and I was only really looking at getting the tecmo bowl 2005 and 2006 because the carts are funny. I would not buy something like final fantasy 2 because thats just not my style. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am anti-pirating if its avoidable.

I was referring to the statement that theshizzle3000 made about "all of us have roms for more than 24 hours and not thought twice about it". Its a broad generalization that doesn't fit was my point. I wasn't talking about rights as that has been done to death.

Ahh, sorry about that then I took your previous statement more to mean lets pirate the hell out of it. Didn't mean to come off harsh on that one.
Now those updated Tecmo games ... sweet. We should get a bunch of people to sign a petition to get Tecmo to do an updated version, same NES gameplay just updated rosters/divisions/teams. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

So would I because I can only imagine the updated touchdown celebrations, and they would have to add cutscenes of Terrel Owens arguing with all of his teammates.

See, THAT is a legitimate use for these services. Taking an old game itself and updating it to be more current.
Y'know, if only more companies did it instead of rehashing the game over and over... *cough*MADDEN*cough*EASUCKS*coughs*

Again good point I think madden '97 was the best in the series. I think they could make a killing off of redoing just this game.

Wow, this site is cool!
I've always wanted to play SMB2J, but never got around on trying to find a Famicom, famicom disc and off course the game here in Sweden. It's hard to find here and expencive to have shipped.
Do i need to send in a cart to be modified on this site like with Nes Reproductions?
Cheers,
