Yow, I had NO IDEA this DVD would bring in this much...if you've got any lying around the house and need some cash, sell sell sell!

Unfortunately this came out before I got the DVD player and I had been looking for one but I'm not paying that much.

I remember when after the VHS was first released and then discontinued, some of the sealed tapes were selling for $100 or more at flea market and collectable shops. That was probably 10 years ago.

I'll simply wait for Disney to break under the pressure of many new owners of DVD player demanding Little Mermaid DVD and release it soon. I'm also waiting for The Jungle Book DVD (as it was before I got DVD player as well :P)

The funny part is that I originally got it for free when I pre-ordered the Snow White DVD. The Disney Store near me still had about ten copies of TLM this past summer...I should go see if they're still there!

Strange. I thought that the only collectible version of the Little Mermaid was the VHS release with the naughty cover (http://www.snopes.com/disney/films/mermaid.htm).

There are a couple of the first release Disney DVD's that bring in at least twice there retail price. The two I can think of is The Little Mermaid (of course) and Lady and the Tramp. I lucked out and found a bunch of these at a blockbuster last year. I spent $700 and doubled it in a couple of months. Thank you Dsiney. :D

All of the "Limited Issue" Disney DVDs are on a time released schedule. Meaning they come out for X number of months or years, then go out of print, for X number of years and cannot be bought in stores. Jungle Book is another to watch out for if you can find for cheap. I always look for Limited Issue Disney dvds when I hit the pawns & video shops like briskbc mentioned. Doesn't hurt, even if it still is in print currently, it WILL be going out of print eventually. So pick up a cheap used Disney dvd for $5-10, watch and leave on shelf until it's oop, then resell for 10x what you paid. :D

OOP Disney dvd = big $$$ on ebay.
