Thats right...add me to the list of members who have opened a game store (well at least almost opened). As some of you know, for the past year I have been gearing up to opening a store and after multiple unfortunate delays, the time has finally arrived.
So, lets get to the point already. My store will be having its grand opening this Saturday, November 4th at 10AM! Like others, my store will feature a blend of current and classic, new and used. Here are some pics of the store (about 90% done):

and now here is the address for the store:
116 Warwick Rd
Stratford, NJ 08084
(in the Laurel Mills Shopping Center, between the Post Office and Rite Aid)
All DP members will recieve 10% off their purchases.
So, please come on out on Saturday or whenever you can...if you have any questions feel free to ask and I will try and get back to you. (I've still got alot of work to do :))

Your store looks great and really reminds me of Funcoland in the late 90s... especially the way the handhelds are displayed:
http://www.libertyshred.com/nick/store05.jpg
I feel like it's 1999 all over again =P
What I like about your store is just from looking at the pics it looks like it has a professional yet at the same time mom n pop feel to it. Sounds weird maybe, but I love tidy cozy stores like this that aren't run by the "big boys"
Out here in Antioch, CA we have 4Jays which is somewhat similar to your store. Back during March-April-May-June-July I back a trip there monthly, but now have no more reasons to

Whoops....I knew I forgot something LOL
The name is Next Level Videogames...though at the moment I don't have a lighted sign (its a long story). I'm trying to get a temp sign up, but at the very least people should notice the neons in the window, they already have (specially the buy/sell/trade Gamestop sign  )
Where in the world did you keep all that stuff?
Actually for a while I kept most if it my bedroom :eek 2: ...but eventually I had to move it down to the living room in the house. My parents were very please when I finally was able to move into the store ;)
My birthday is a day after your store opens. Do I get a free game? :D
If you come on by maybe we can work something out ;)
take internet orders?
oh yeah like nobody else was thinking it.
No internet stuff as of now...but maybe eventually.
I would love to go into detail about everything that took place during the last year, but it would take me way too long. Originally I was planing to at least do multiple posts of setting up like Joe did, but of course I've been a little busy ;)
But if you'd like to hear the stories...feel free to swing on by and I'll tell them to you in person :D

If anyone was wondering who that guy is in a few of the pictures, it is I, DKTheArcadeRat, or Dave to those of you who have met me. I've been helping Nick out in the store, its coming along really great. Definately if you are in the area, stop on in November 4th for the grand opening, I will totally be there(added bonus!).
The selection in his store is varied, and large(he has some that are teh rare! lol), and is a pleasure to do business with. So come on down to NEXT LEVEL VIDEOGAMES!!!!! or you will be pwn3d like a n00b.

Ugh, now there's 2 stores I want to visit in NJ. :)
How far is it between your store and Joe's, out of curiousity?

Yeah, I saw those, too! They're quite amazing. Are they specifically made for this type of retail? Or did you modify something else?

Actually it is half of an A-Frame unit you would find at a store like Sam Goody (where I got mine). They use it for CDs and DVDs...but as you can see, it also works nicely for loose carts.
How far is it between your store and Joe's, out of curiousity?
I'm about a hour and a half from Joe's store (2 hours tops)...not that bad of a trip...I've made it at least a dozen times :)

How are you going to verify this? Do we have to log into the forum while there?
I'll definitely try to be there for the opening. Living in central NJ, I've learned that the only good thing about the state is that it has great independant game stores and none of them can be more than an hour away from me.

Well I just so happen to have a retina scanner at the register, but thats only after the fingerprint machine at the door :D
But seriously, you just have to come in, and if I don't know you, just say that you're from DP. Only people reading this thread should know about it, so it shouldn't be a problem ;)

Hey Nick - the pics look amazing. I never heard of Stratford - I assume south?
Good luck with the store. As I wrote when Joe was getting ready to open up last year, I can't even begin to imagine the courage it must take to do something like that.
Best of luck, and have a blast with it.

+1 for opening a store
+2 for having good stock
+3 for that PlayChoice cab
and +4,000 for that MVS cab
I'll probably be in NJ visiting family sometime this year. If I can find a way into your neck of the woods, believe me I will.
Oh, yeah, I agree with Steve, it reminds me of Funcoland in 1999. I was just cleaning some of my funco carts a little earlier.

Lots of boxed NES/SMS content. Nice selection of import Saturn games also. All the other basics are covered, I was even able to pick up a great condition Dragon's Curse for the TG-16, which is something I've wanted for a while now.
Everything I bought is in really good condition as well. Definitely not a purchased lot blindly dumped onto the sales floor willy nilly (can't stand places that do that).
Most items seemed to be in the $9.99 to $24.99 range. Perfectly fine for the quality stuff. He also has a cash wrap with the more interesting stuff like US versions of Musya and Secret of Mana.

Nick,
first time I saw this thread... and WOW!
I hadn't heard from you in ages and I am very happy that this thing got off the ground and is now in full swing. Congrats!
On another note:
I will be in NYC for thanksgiving weekend visiting the lady friend.
Since I am not very East Coast savyI have no idea where this is in relation to NYC. Would it be possible to make the trip? Or is it just too far? I have little time and probably won't find any easy transportation to NJ, but i thought i might ask.
If you are chris want to meet up in the city (not sure the distance), let me know as i'd be more than happy to buy you guys a round or two.
Send me your address (to the store). I will drop some stuff in the mail for you that I have piling up since I am so happy to see this thing finally going.
take it easy man

Next time I visit my friend from college who lives in Jersey I'm gonna have to make a big deal about coming to visit you and the DP store. But I'm certain your store is quite a ways off from where my friend lives. He lives in Franklin Lakes, which is like 30 mins out of NYC, and you said you were in the south of Jersey. He's not into video games so would probably not drive almost 2 hours south to watch me ogle video games when we only have 2 1/2 days to hang out. Damn. Maybe I should just mapquest it, get my boyfriend and his brother and make a weekend road trip out of it. I mean, it's only 4 1/2 - 5 hr drive from Massachusetts...and worth it for a store that fine looking (and 10% off). Maybe this January when I'm out of school on winter break...
And anyone here from Massachusetts - do you know of any other badass used game stores besides GameZone in Salem? I mean, I love GameZone and I used to be in there almost every other week and haven't had a chance to go up there in months but I used to have a rapport with the guys there. But is there anything of significant awesomeness closer to the Boston area, especially close to Medford? I mean, in Medford, all we have is GameStop and whatever pre-played junk they got at Blockbuster and Hollywood, especially since they closed our Toys R Us. But I need someplace close I can still get pre-PS2 stuff, because it's a dirty shame that GameStop and EB stopped selling even PS1 and N64 games, let alone anything before that.
