Have anyone checked out http://www.gametrailers.com/ top 10 list of the scariest games of all time? I dont like horror games that much, but i'm alittle suprised that they didnt list Phantasmagoria (or how u spell it). I havnt played it myself, but its suppose to be very creepy. I also missed Undying and Sanitarium on the list, altho these might not be top 10.

FYI Phantasmagoria was had some surprises but not a lot of chills, IIRC, it has been a while since I've played it.
I have Sanatarium, but I haven't installed it yet. I got it because I'd heard it was creapy.
Realms of the Haunting was pretty creepy. It's seems like an early 3d engine game, but there were some cut scens that made my skin crawl. I really have to get that out again and try to play it again, I didn't get far last time for some reason.
Fatal Frame pwns me and my urine stained couch.

That link only goes to the front page and there's no link on the front page to the actual article and the search function doesn't seem to key into the word "scariest" could you post a direct link please?

I found it easier to describe with a picture :) On the front page you will find this.

I was getting ready to bash this list if it didn't include the original Clock Tower since every Top-10 Scary list leaves it out. It was the first game they featured though at the #10 spot, so I can't complain.

10 - Clock Tower (PS1). Man that game was pretty messed up. Hell, the SFami game was pretty clazy too.
9 - System Shock 2 (PC). FUCK THOSE MONKEYS. Jesus, I never finished that game until a friend played co op with me...until then, I just couldn't handle it :(
8 - Eternal Darkness (GC). Outright terrible game. Why the shit do people regard it so highly? Cool gimmicks, shitty game.
7 - Darkseed (PC). God, that game was messed up. Gave me some sleeping trouble :(
6 - Doom 3 (PC/Xbox). Some scary stuff, but come on...monster closets aren't scary, they're cheap. It did get pretty awesome in the later half, though.
5 - The Suffering (PS2/Xbox). Haven't played this one yet. I've heard a lot of good stuff about it, but I can't find a cheap copy in good condition locally :( Maybe I'll hit ebay.
4 - Alien vs Predator (Jag). Uh...nostalgia vote, I guess. It didn't really scare me too much, though the PC version from a few years later...god damn. That game was awesome.
3 - Resident Evil (Gamecube). I never played this version but it looks pretty awesome. The original PS1/PC/Sat version was kinda meh, but it really looks like this one does it right.
2 - Fatal Frame 2 (PS2/Xbox). Why don't they just give free underwear with new copies of this game? You will shit yourself. :(
1- Silent Hill (PS1). Hard to disagree with this one...man, that game creeped me the fuck out :( Hasn't aged well at all, unfortunately :(
Not on the list but a personal mention of mine: Thief / Thief Gold (PC). Early on it's a fun first person sneaker, but in a few levels it turns into a god damned horror game and I still haven't beaten it :(

It depends on how you play it. I'll admit that AvP is the only game which I put down because it scared the hell out of me...
When you play the game, if you turn off the HUD and turn up the sound on surround sound, the game lulls you into believing you're safe -- the aliens run along behind you silently. If you stop for a second when there is one too close, there is a sudden shriek, the screen turns red and the alien has snuck up behind you.
Absolutely scariest moment when you don't know it is coming, you're low on ammo and the sound is turned up nice and high.
I'm very impressed it made the list. In my opinion, it is _mush_ scarier than Doom 3, Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness. I'm impressed it made the list, and looking over the other games, I'd say this seems to be one of the most unbiased lists of games for anything I've ever seen. Very impressive!

That game scared the hell outta me too. I had a real hard time beating it; I crept through those levels knowing that I was gonna die in the next few minutes, but just not knowing where.
Silent Hill is a no-brainer, but I think Silent Hill 2 was the creepiest of the bunch. I actually couldn't finish that game cause it creeped me out too much.

Ah, how about when you save a game and resume it later? As most of us know, the game places enemies randomly. Load up a saved game and you will often start with aliens, predators or marines standing right behind you and already attacking when the game starts up. That always sucks and it is part of the reason why you ought to finish AVP in one sitting.
Hmm I really liked Eternal Darkness I thought it was an excellent game. Some really scary moments.
As for Silent Hill I played the game not to long ago, and its still scary as all get out, one of the most terrfiying game I've ever played. Shure the graphics arnt pretty and melle weapons are usless but most everything else works and works well.
I'm dissapointed that the original Alone in the Dark wasn't listed, that game scared the hell out of me when I played it. I hardly see anybody mention that game when talking about survival horror games, which is sad because it's what really started the genre.

Yeah it is really hard to disagree with the Silent Hill series has the scariest, because it is just so very disturbing. I don't know that I can really agree with The Suffering being on there it is just gory and at times funny, but the random screams and flashbacks might be part of the reasoning.
