I'm not talking about the rarest thing you've got, or the most valuable or expensive thing you've got - but the video game items that you own and cherish the most. The item that you just love to bits. The item that only yourself is allowed to touch. I think you get the picture...

Anyway, here's my most cherished items:

Stunt Race FX (SNES): It's got no box, no manual and I payed too much for it, but Stunt Race FX is my favourite video game of all time.

Solstice (NES): I consider it the best game on the NES, and also my favourite on the NES. And plus it's in mint condition!

Sega Rally Championship (Sega Saturn): Yes, it's probably the most common Saturn game there is, but my copy is in brand-new condtition. Yes it's boxed with manual, but it's also got the other extra pamphlets that come with Saturn games (games and Sega Rally merchandise catalog), and the CD has absolutely no scratches or finger marks, and the instruction looks like it's never been touched! And plus it's my second-favourite video game behind Stunt Race FX.

hmmm... my absolute favorites would be:

Guitar Freaks PSX import: The game is an absolute blast to play. It takes minutes to learn what to do but hours upon hours to master. Great fun for everyone!

Mark of the Wolves Neo Geo cart: One of the most superb fighting games ever constructed in my opinion. There are a few character flaws but otherwise a true masterpiece in 2D gaming.

We will have to rivist this questing on a month or so once I secure a couple more items ^_^

Most cherished game items? Interesting question.

-NES: this is my original NES that I got as a gift from my parents back in 1988. Still works, thanks to the replacement pins I put in. I will never give this thing up as it has a lot of memories with it. I even have all the games I originally owned with it (there weren't many back then): SMB/DH, Kid Icarus, Golf, Castelvania II, The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, SMB 2 & 3, and Milon's Secret Castle. Of course, my collection has grown since then.

-Atari VCS: As I mentioned before in a past thread, this is the system that brought my current wife and I together many moons ago. It was our uncle's (we have the same relatives due to marriage, so we aren't cousins or anything), who scarfed up a system and a bunch of carts when Sears announced on their PA that the prices were slashed 75%. Many hours of fun were had with that thing. I have since rescued it from storage and utter doom and have restored it. It will forever be known to me, my wife, and my sister-in-law as "The Atari".

That's really about it. If I had to sell off my collection for anything, those are the two things I'd keep.

hmm... most cherished... I would have to say that Micro Machines for the NES would have to be up there. That game was one of the games that started me into collecting. I buy this game everytime I see it no matter what condition it is in.

Not really sure of what other games I cherish the most...
My earthbound - SNES (complete) maybe...

Guitar Freaks PSX import: The game is an absolute blast to play. It takes minutes to learn what to do but hours upon hours to master. Great fun for everyone!

Is that worth playing without the guitar controller?

@WiseSalesman: Not really. Believe me, I've tried. ^^

Let me see....I have a copy of Mach Rider for NES simply because it was one of my favorite games when I was 5 years old.

I also bought the Micro Vs. Game & Watch game Donkey Kong Hockey on Ebay last year because that was the very first video game I ever owned. Even before I had an NES.

I'll probably keep my Mad Catz Beat Pad because I learned to play DDR on it. Ah, I'm a sentimental dork. LOL

I have absolutely mint copies of Space Harrier and Thunderblade for the SMS.
I wanted those two games SOOO bad when I was a kid... finally got them in recent years on eBay.

A copy of Gunstar Heroes that an ex-girlfriend picked up for me.
She thought it looked "fun" what with all the colors and balloon-y shaped characters. She got it dirt cheap, tho she won't say the exact price. Neither one of us new it was at all rare/hyped up at the time. She picked it up on a whim and then we just thought it was a fun game.
Wasn't untill I found DP Forums that I realized the cult following it has.
It too is mint, excpet for a note from her to me she put on the inside cover of the manual, which just increases the value for me, I don't plan on parting with it!

Donky Kong 3 Micro VS System (Game & Watch). That my mother got for me with her Club Z points back in '88. Still works to this day, and still fun to this day.

An old Map I have of Alex Kidd: Hi Tech World.
I drew the layout to the castle, marked who/what was in each room and notes such as the servants names, test answers, etc...
I found it while rummaging thru some old video game posters/inserts and such I had stored away... Funny to think that I drew that map way back in 90/91 and is still floating around my parents house!

i would have to say one of my first finds on the collecting spree a few years back. a video rental store was going out had a ton of nes games. i would go in everyday or so and pick one or two up, and all of a sudden i pass this box just standing there. i went back and it was a bubble bath babes. never heard of it, never seen it. so i pick it up for $5. later on i found out how lucky i am about the find when one of the local dealers wants me to part with it for $100. i had to say no and now it's my most cherished item.
a close second would definately be my complete Rygar. nes of course. i love that game to death.

Wow...tough one. The games I couldn't live without:

Rock N' Roll Racing (SNES)- I've always loved it and always will. I must have played thru that game 20 times easily, and beat it on Inferno every time. My favorite racing game EVER!

Warsong (Genesis) - Possibly the greatest strategy game ever. Don't leave home without it!

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Genesis) - I'm a Puyo Puyo fan. I admit it. I love it to death and I don't care if eeryone knows!

Snatcher (Sega CD) - Every year or two I crack this one out and fall in love with it all over again. It's just beyond good. I'd never sell it. NEVER!

Dracula X: Rondo of the Blood (PC Engine) - For me, the definitive Castlevania by far, and the one I'd want to have above all others.

Dynasty Warriors 2 (or 3) - Mindless. Brutal. Fun. Must. Keep. Forever.

My Final Fantasy Nintendo Power guide with my name printed on the label...still in mint condition! I saved it....and I'll save it forever ;)

My 3D0 and games - Bought them from a good friend and promised never to sell the system or most of the games.

I think that covers most all of my absolutely most treasured stuff!

Ooh, that's a tough question...

My fave would be my sealed (and open) copies of Street Fighter Zero 3 for the Saturn, possibly my favorite video game of all time.

I have ultra-rare games, prototypes, imports, and one-of-a-kind homebrews.

But easily my most cherished gaming item is my Odyssey2 with the Voice. It has a great deal of sentimental value attached to it, memories of happier times and a family that was all in one piece at that time.

I have many memories of previous games and systems that I have owned at one time or another, but I don't have those exact items anymore.

For now, I would have to say my Neo Geo MVS dedicated 6 slot cab, because of what I went through to get it - not to mention it's just damn fun!

And, the game that started me getting into collecting heavier than I ever should...

A boxed, complete, absolutely MINT Q*Bert's Qubes for the Atari 2600.

I picked it up for $1.99 plus tax, along with several hard-to-find complete Intellivision games for $1.99 all at the same place, same day.

The day I sell that puppy is the day that I make a conscious decision to NOT collect for the 2600.

I'd like to say it's my Up'n Down arcade machine, as it's a SEGA arcade machine...but I'd have to say it's really my SEGA MAster System. I got it cheap years ago, and I still play it regularly.

I would have to say my very first system a 2600 i still have it in the box. I don't collect for it but the games i do have for it have a lot of time on them. I even remember going to k-mart back in 83 to get it with my grandparents. My grandpa was the shit at frogs and flies. LOL
