I think this would be better posted in the "Technical Restoration Society" Group down the bottom, were all the techies tend to hang out. Just a suggestion, as, well.. I'm not a mod! Your just more likely to get a better reply there from someone.

Also, Have you tried getting a lens cleaner? Or Tried a Lens Cleaning method? I think theres a few Lens cleaning methods posted in the Tech Restoration society, last I remember.

aka D-Lite over at the Neo-Geo.com forums. He does all sorts of Duo modding and repair. You might be slow in getting a response however since he's in the process of moving (last I heard, anyway).

Agreed, could a mod please slide this over there.

Also could you um.. I dunno.. be descriptive as to what the problem is? :hmm:

OSG repairs 3 or 4 DUO's per month, and stocks new DUO optics at all times.

hey guys i didnt even know there was a technical repair forum. As for the problems i have no idea. i just saw this auction here>>>

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=170043183178&rd=1&rd=1

and i was considering bidding on it, but i wanted to get some info and a quote about fixing it before i decide to take the plunge. as for the problem i have no idea except for what it says in the description. im not aware that there could be multiple problems. i just thought there might be a simple fix to all of them like the NES :-) thanks!

By the way anyone know worse case scenario on a price to fix one?

ROFL There are so many little things with the 'Duo when problems begin to arise, it's impossible to address them without actually having the system in-hand. The disc clamp on the CD lid could need to be lubricated as was with mine, but the problem was never as drastic as the one described. I would steer away from this one as the seller says they "fiddled with it for quite a while" and "couldn't quite make it work" which usually means they didn't know what they were doing and more than likely made things worse. There are a lot of people who are very knowledgeable about games and love the industry very much - but aren't technically inclined in the least.

As for price, it'll triple at the last moment - at the very least, as the vultures come out of the woodwork. This is regardless of it working properly or not.

Oh, and yeah, OSG would be the way to go for 'Duo repairs. There's no one else (including the handfull of Duo ubermodders) that I would trust to do repairs.. well, other than myself. LOL But omnedon is the man.

Still think that system sounds like a can of worms.

Oh, and I guess you could have called this my RTM audition (http://my.stratos.net/%7Ehewston95/RTM06/RTM06.html) back in 2004. Last picture under "Costume Collage."

Ah crap, ignore that last post, was supposed to go in this thread (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1087944).

Haven't done that in awhile. :embarrassed:

Thanks for the kind words. Indeed, the more it's been tampered with by a rank amateur, the less likely a repair is possible.

OSG NEVER buys busted stuff on Ebay. Last thing I want is someone elses parted out, collection of 5 busted DUO's slapped together to make 1 very, VERY busted DUO. Ebay is filled with that crap.

For every legitimate broken console for sale, there are 10 "untested" or "tried to fix but couldn't" that consist of some self styled repair guys rejects. How to tell the decent busteds from the parted out trash is impossible.

Since the auction says 'broken' you are completely on your own with those auctions as well.

Do You feel lucky? :)
