Kitsune Sniper

A little while ago I made a trade with another forum user. I traded two NES things for complete copies of Ready 2 Rumble Boxing (one original, one Hot! New!) and a copy of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. I figured, might as well get both versions, right?
Well I started to play R2R Boxing (the Hot! New! version) and I did fine. I played for a while but didn't see anything weird. And then I tried the original version.
It froze. Hell, it HARD FROZE. I'm actually pretty surprised this happened; I thought that only a few copies of the original printings of the game had this error, but I guess I was mistaken. And the game is MINT, so it's not a disc scratch error. The funny thing is, the disc froze when accessing the music in the game, when the music plays fine via the Dreamcast music player (the CD player application).
Anyway. All that rambling leads me to this: What games had Hot! New! variants, and what were the bugs that the original pressings had? And what did Sega do about these bad games? Did they give out free replacements or something?
