Have you tried cleaning the cartridge slot?

Or the cartridges themselves, clean those first. You often will think the Genesis itself is bad when it's just a matter of dirty carts.
Cleaning the Genesis connector, same as the NES or SNES or any other cart system, is pretty tough (if not impossible without lots of disassembly).

In my experience, actually cleaning the Genesis connector is pretty tough (if not impossible without disassembly), same as the NES or SNES or any other cart system.

even though it was pretty clean i took one of the games apart and scrubbed it with a white eraser, i cleaned the slot durring my cleaning process of all this stuff and i didnt get much out of it. its kinda werid.

Isopropyl alcohol is better than erasers, of course. ;)

Does it feel like the cartridge slot isn't gripping the games? You may need to do something similar to this (http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/sega/md1-loose-cart.htm) if so.

in the land of old computers when gold and tin contacts come together it creates a contact corrosion, i was told a while ago the white poly erasers kinda neutralize this and also scrub it pretty clean with out having to worry about any liquids.
it also get them pretty shiny
