I pre ordered my copy of Gears Of War the other day at Best Buy. It came with a kick ass shirt too. That alone was worth the 5 dollar preorder fee. Check out the pic, sorry about the creases, I just opened the package.

I've had the collectors edition pre-ordered for awhile now. My only concern is time. I mean, Call of Duty 3 and Gears on the same day? Looks like an all nighter for me.

I'm quite excited about this one and I know alot of others here are so I fgured I'd start this seeing as the game is out soon.

I have my pre-order down at Game Crazy for the regular version and will be picking it up on the 7th :D

You'll be picking it up the 8th :) It ships the 7th to stores. But, like you, I'm very excited.

Actually the game was originally street dated for the 7th, as GH2 is. But it no longer has a street date and will be ready for sale whenever they get it in, likely monday.

I preordered this at EB about two years ago, literally. It was a few months before the 360 launch and just after E3 expo I believe. It seems to have been delayed a bit.

EB also had a demo of it. It had actual gameplay footage for at least the ten minutes I watched it. The blood spatter in the above clip was very common, maybe over-used; though cool. Every time your character was shot the blodd would splatter from you, it seemed.

Gameplay was much faster than I expected, and the use of cover was a major element; yet the game looked great. There is a rumor that there are vehicles in the game, but I could not find any images or clips of it...

Was this game originally slated for Nov. 19th or so?

Actually, it was originally slated for the 12th (Emergence Day + My birthday = absolute sweetness!).

But I'm hearing it's now slated for this Tuesday (7th). Still don't think we'll see it until the 12th.

Not sure how accurate the original statement by Mark Rein was (about Gears shipping/getting picked up from Microsoft's warehouse at midnight on the 7th) as I checked with my local Gamestop, and they advised they should have the game in some time around noon on the 7th.

I just can't picture Gamestop paying to overnight the thing to all their stores - could be wrong though.

Most stores already have this. Our local Best Buy had 20+ copies in their 360 "game-cage" on Friday night. Wouldn't sell them until Tuesday. Target and Walmart should already have these sitting in the back.

I hope I can get a copy on the release day. I pre-ordered (paid in full) at Gamestop a month ago (which means nothing these days). At that time they had 185 pre-orders.

Just got back from GameStop and it's going to be delivered Wednesday morning before they open. Doesn't matter though, tomorrow is Guitar Hero 2 and that's almost as good as sex. I can wait a day for Gears.

That's funny, it makes me want it 400x less. Everyone is different...

I am having a hard time getting excited about this or Resistance, or even COD 3. I guess I'm just tired of blowing people's heads off. I'll be skipping all three of these titles.

The manager at EB told me that he would have the game tomorrow. He had to go pick it up though. I'm not sure from where, but I know that FedEx and UPS distribution centers are not that far away....

Of course I preordered at another store and they have not yet called to say it would be available for pickup. They did call me and tell me FFV would be available tomorrow.

Aris from gamestop has not called me yet and she always called when the preorder was headed into the stores.(with the exception of fear that had the release date bumped up a week) I am starting to get nervous that it will arrive on Wed.

I can't wait for this game I am not sure how good this game will be

it looks amazing and I have alot of faith in Cliffy B so it should be all good.

I am dissapointed that there are no more reviews for it yet, i really want to read some other than xplay's review.

I went to at least 5 various stores( games & electronics )and everyone of them had at least 4 to 6 people walking in asking if gears came in. Not counting phone calls.

I haven't seen this type of frenzy for a game in awhile. I predict this game maybe hard top find for the first week or two for those who haven't preordered.

This game kills Halo. Sorry Halo fans, but it does. The 360 finally has it's killer app.

I went to 2 different GameStops. They were just opening the boxes when I got to the second one. They still hadn't even called anybody yet when I picked mine up.

The firefights in this game are super-intense. And I'm only playing Casual mode.

I've been playing for a couple hours now. Very good so far; controls take some getting used to, and taking cover is a little frustrating at times, but otherwise awesome. Completely linear; nothing to explore, at fights are staged, and I made the mistake of choosing the harder difficulty (the insane difficulty must open up after playing through).

Didn't realize that the red gage in the middle of the screen was my health gauge for awhile. No health packs here, I think you regenerate your health automatically.

Excessive gore, but not a problem...

Great game...

Earlier this morning, the press average of this game was 9.5 over at IGN.

It's now a 9.9 if that says anything.

On the 3rd portion of "Ashes" at the moment. This game (so far) has lived up to the hype, and then some.

My brothers up in Orlando ordered it online and have it right now. If it wasn't for this discount I get, I'd have taken the online route, too. Half the time the games arrive early, especially off Amazon.

I got my collector's edition yesterday, and I couldn't find out why I kept dieing. And then I realized that this was not Prey, and I could not just run up to locusts and pump them full of lead. :embarrassed: Now that I know how to play the game, it is much more fun! Great job Epic! :D

Yeah, its a game that you cant just run and gun.

Still on the fence with this one. The last two shooters I've played (Prey and Quake IV), I got bored with 30 minutes into the game and never had the desire to finnish.

In fact I was never even that big of a fan of Halo, I played the second one for about 2 hours then got bored and never completed it. Maybe I'll pick up GoW when it hit's $30 or something.

I know there is a splitscreen option. I assume it is for co-op/multiplayer. I'm not touching multiplayer until I finish the solo.

Casual? Why would you want to play this on that setting? I can't wait to unlock insane. The X-play review said it was near impossible, though I expect someones probably done it by now.

Two levels later, you find yourself saying it again. and so on...

I haven't played it yet. All the gamestops and eb within a 30 Mile radius had shipment problems gears won't arrive until tomorrow. The wildest weapon I have ever seen in a game is the cerebral bore from the turok series. That one to me is very hard to beat. I often wonder who in the world sat up and thought of that one:)

finally game arrived today, picked it up this afternoon - its really hard to pass this one, you wont see better looking game for a long time, gameplay is so awesome(its sort of a Resident Evil 4 in a way), music is very atmospheric, strongly recommend to pick this up to anyone!
this is a killer ap that will sell millions of 360s.

I had the collector's edition reserved at EB. Unfortunately, I'm included in the unlucky group of "failed shipments." That kind of double-sucked for me, because I pulled some strings at work (my boss really wasn't happy I could tell) to get the afternoon off just so I could buy and play this game. Bummed out, I went to Target to grab a couple of items I needed, and lo-and-behold, they had Gears (regular). Screw EB. Most every other retailer in town had the game. Why should I wait because they screwed up? I really wanted the collector's, but I just couldn't give EB my money on this one, whether it was their fault or not. So I "settled" on the regular edition, I'm lovin' it, and I'll probably go in to EB tomorrow and get my money back.

I've been burned on too many preorders. I'm pulling all the money I put down on any preorders and putting it towards something useful. EB obviously doesn't want it.

I've heard so many good things about this game and it's selling like a WILDFIRE. We had about 20 people where I work today waiting for about 30 minutes for the UPS shipment to get unloaded and checked in as soon as the store opened. All my freaking bastard friends got it today, so I guess I'll be spending like 70 bucks or something for the collector's edition on Friday if I can find one.

Yes I was also one who had the failed shipment from EBGames. I made them give me a refund and I drove to Walmart and found it no problem. As for the game, it rocks ass so far. Im right after the Berserker which kicked so much ass. Wish I had one of them for a pet....

I officially love curbstomping more than the chainsaw. It is soooooo satisfying to hover over your victim as he struggles to stay alive, only to snuff out any chance with the heel of your boot. It is psychologically devastating. It beats "tea bagging" in Halo by tenfold, and its an intentional part of the game--unlike... well, teabags.

Also, I have to point out, I've yet to run into any jerks or poorsports. All of my games have been friendly, cordial, and everybody is simply there, having a good time. I haven't had that experience on Live for sometime. I even got congratulated on a comeback in Execution, when I was the only one left alive in my team, and I snuck up and killed their leader with a chainsaw right behind his two defenders. X_x

I picked mine up today at circuit city they were giving away free gears faceplates.

My 15% off coupon wouldn't work combined it was either one or the other. The coupon is in the oxm mag issue.

I must say this is one of the prettiest games I have ever played. The level of detail is astounding from the tatoos to the water to the cinematics. I am just getting use to the controls but the aren't too complicated.

Microsoft is playing for keeps. The funny thing is alot of games get released with alot of hype.
You pick it up the are let down like (oh well) I can honestly say that this is not the case here. Well done.

Well done for being able to produce under pressure and and a toast for being original.

In this world of sequels this is refreshing.

Developers are definately taking notice on this one. The anti has been raised.

Just saw this article on Eurogamer and thought it might spark a few.

Alain Tascan, general manager for EA Montreal, has revealed that he thinks Xbox 360 title Gears of War has been overrated by reviewers - with one or two, ahem, notable exceptions.

Speaking in a panel discussion at the Montr�al Games Summit, Tascan said, "What is Gears of War? I mean Gears of War brings nothing in terms of innovation to the shooter... Like, zero.

"Only two very brave UK-based journalists said, 'You know what, Gears of War is a great game but it's like what Quake was a few years ago.'" Any guesses as to who one of those might be?

"Why are people loving it so much? It's like added production value, incredible cutscenes and the best ever graphics ever. I'm sure it's going to be a great success, I can't wait to play it, but let's face that graphics are still number one," Tascan continued.

He then used the comparison of a nice looking girl you might see in a bar and go up and talk to, "And if she's smart enough, that's the gameplay.

"I'm not talking about my tastes, I'm just saying, when you go to metacritic and you see a 96 for Gears of War, then you read the critics saying, 'Okay, storyline - there's none, gameplay is not innovative...' Then I say, why did they give this 96? They were blown away by the high quality of the graphics... Myself, I prefer something more creative," Tascan concluded.

After the panel discussion was over, we grabbed Tascan to ask if he was indeed referring to Eurogamer's Gears of War review - and the answer was, "Absolutely, yes. You guys were one of the only people who had the guts to say it." So there you go.

You know, this is coming from EA, they know a thing or two about non-innovation. ;)

Maybe we should believe 'em.

Just beat it on Hardcore. Stays difficult throughout...

Only 16 of 49 Acievements, looks like there's room for more playing. I think about half of the achievements or for online play...

The music with the ending credits is a little questionable...I think Cole sings it.

Seems to leave room for a sequel; who woulda' thunk it?
