Has anybody ever had this happen to them before?

Asking on behalf of a forumer I know elsewhere.

Topic link HERE (http://www.forumplanet.com/classicgaming/castlevania/topic.asp?fid=7526&tid=1960024).

Notes:

1.) The TV seems to have been confirmed not to be the problem.
2.) He's using a y-cable that isn't removed from the TV (so stress problems seem unlikely). The other end connects to a PS2.

Trying to confirm that there isn't sound with other cables, and that it didn't "stop working" when the new cable was used (indicating the cable was bad at the beginning).

god all that "in reply to #" crap would drive me bonkers!

any way i am wondering if the contacts within the connector were corroded. i tried to check a profile to get an idea of where this person lives at but to no avail.

if the live near a body of water, more so an ocean or salte lake its very likley if they dont unplug it and plug it in very often that they got all messed up.

being in a humid place would be enough even but i have gotten many consoles that had corrosion like this but not to the extent of causing this type of problem.

It's happened to me when the ram cart is loose before. Give it a check.
