Hey Folks.
Come my first paycheck, I'm starting my game collection over again: ( *plug* A Raccoon's Retrocade REBUILD!: http://www.cooncaderomp.cjb.net *unplug* ), since I lost my orignal massive collection in my inital move.
I'm able to get away with a more creative storage soultion living on my own now, but, I need suggestions. It also needs to fit in the following 'Rules'---
- Can't involve nailing anything to the wall. This apartment is RENTED.
Yeah, thats about the only rule, it just can't be something ULTRA-PERMENANT that it needs to be otherwise nailed/bolted somewhere.
I'd also LIKE it so that I can setup abbout 10/15 systems to it at a time around it, and setup a switch box for it. I have a general idea on whats needed for that, but if you have any ideas for that, let me know, too!

Well, how good are you with tools, and do you have any? If you do and you can use them, just design and put together whatever you need. I once took a room with 3 solid walls and created a "smiley face" design. Basically, used all 3 walls and made a huge 3/4 circle. The bottom of which was used for storage/setup of s

damned computer cut me off. The top of which was used for storage of the games for that system. One so inclined could also put storage for magazine/gaming book collection or whatever you want. So long as you used screws to put it together you could pull it apart easily when you move again. Also would recommend staining it and not painting it as paint over the long haul of moving gets more screwd up than paint.
What ya think?

Is there anything in your lease that prohibits you from putting nails in your walls? I rent an apartment, and all loose carts are stored on wall-mounted shelves.

I tell you what I use to store my games, but there's a slim chance that you'll actually get to acquire it. See, it started out as a potato chip mini bag display from FritoLay (imagine those chip counters at Subway and you have the general idea). It eventually changed hands, and became a dog food kiosk at my workplace. Then, when my boss had no more use for it, it changed hands again and ended up in my room. It has about three main shelves in the middle, and three more smaller shelves on each side, and a another shelf towards the top. It's really nice, I use it to hold all my games, and then use a giant tote to keep all my controllers together. And then I use a dresser drawer for all my AC adaptors. I should really take a picture of that sometime.
So, the moral of this story: I dunno. Bug a Subway?

Here in our apartment that is pretty lacking in space we use a bunch of the Ikea Benna towers (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10103&storeId=12&langId=-1&productId=11414). Not only do they hold alot of CD's (180 single case) or DVD's (80 single case), the shelves are adjustable so you can do a combo of the both. The are about 7 feet tall but are only 10 or so inches wide. You can do a single wall mount on the top of them to keep them from falling over (which is what we've done) even though we've got the same kinda restrictions on putting anything up like that. The small screw holes arn't all that big/noticable and are easily patched.
We just use an AV splitter and the entertainment center to hold our currently played systems (PS/PS2/DC/GCN/XBox) and we've got an RCA cable hooked into the tv as well so we can hook up the Genny or the 2600 when we get into the mood for it.
