View Full Version : Best way to play Famicom games in the US?
I know this has been discussed before, but I wasn't paying attention. If someone could point me to an earlier thread that would be great. Or we can start a new one. Thanks.

I use a 60-72 pin converter but some games won't fit into it but its not a honeybee so i don't know if that would be better.

Personally I either play using a Super 8 converter (the thingy that goes on top of a Super NES, plays Super NES, Famicom, and NES games) OR I use a Game Axe (handheld).

try to locate an appropriate converter, such as a honeybee. i believe some copies of wrecking crew have a converter cart built in, but you'll have to poke around here for that post.
you can also buy one of the many famicom clone systems that are table-based systems (e.g., polystation). the handheld ones can be annoying to hold for extended periods of time, and if you accidentally drop the unit while playing, well, you can damage the game and system in one move, as the cart fits underneath the unit...
you can also buy a game axe, and connect it to your TV to use as a famicom system, if you want to go to the extra expense. for BEST results with no hassles, buy a famicom av system, which should work perfectly...
I probably should mention that I do have a famicom system but I don't have a power supply for it. If I were to get a power supply would I also need a voltage adapter?

nope. all you need is the correct adaptor, not a u.s. NES one, that's for sure. if you can't locate a famicom power source here in the states, you may want to contact a few japanese sellers on ebay directly, as you'd be surprised at what some of them carry off the site...=^P

Get the Honey bee import game adapter.it works perfectly with import nes games.
Hmm... I'm thinking the Super 8 might be my best option. I can then get rid of both my NES and Famicom. Consolidate! Are there any drawbacks to the Super 8? Incompatibilities and such?
Also, what's a good price for one?
Thanks everyone!

No real drawbacks with the super 8, although mines a little loose in some places, and tight in others... Except the cost, I think a boxed one goes for $60-$80 on ebay. Someone found them for $50 on yahoo on and off.
