What's the difference between the SF7, SF6, and SF3, besides price?

They both have 32 MB and I was wondering if there are any major differences. If there aren't any then I'll buy the SF3.

The sf7 has a higher mbit capacity through upgrades and has a parallel port. It also has slightly better compatibility with roms. I wouldn't get an older model unless you were collecting them.

There is a huge difference between the SF3 and the SF6,7. There are many protection in games that the SF3 can't bypass. Therefore you will either get the warning screen or a level in the game that you cannot pass or you have one life and can be instantly killed (example if I recall are Actraiser 2 and Demons Crest). From the SF6 to the SF7 the changes are not as substantial, though in the SF7 you can upgrade the RAM to higher than 32MB. If you don't own one yet, I would get the SF7.

Yep, tototek.com sells the sf7 and they will even sell you one with a maxed-out ram. Good prices too.

Don't bother with the other GDSFs unless you are a copier collector.

quiick question...

can the sf7 dump same ram from carts or just the rom data itself?

the chinese copier I have can only dump rom and not ram and I would love to back my saves up before the batteries die.

I've never used the functionality, but I know it's in the manual for the SF7. It's a bit more cryptic than other copiers such as the SWC series, but you should be able to do it. Do a good for the SF7 manual, there's some scans floating around and also a text document I believe.

The gd7 can upload and download save ram from carts. It involves using the modify game function.
