Has anyone ever used a foreign language rom patch to help them learn the language? I found a French translation site and thought it would be pretty interested to play Final Fantasy in French. Might actually come in handy when I go to France to visit some relatives.

Yeah, I used to play Final Fantasy VI in Spanish and German (two languages I was studying at the time). I didn't really use it as a learning tool, though. I could understand the main dialogue okay, but really couldn't get some of the language's own idioms. But I practically memorized the English script anyways, so that helped.
